WOW that is one quick RA, dont let the M forum boys see that vid. It will more than likely be said, it was staged. It even crossed my mind to be be entirely honest. As for the driving, anybody who says they haven't booted their car on a long open road with good visibility is either lieing or doesn't need an Impreza.

If they dont know by now, they arnt into cars and wont care anyway.

If you are going to street race or go that quick, especially in a modified well above it's original spec car, for everyones health please do it in the middle of nowhere, things can go badly wrong in a split second, you could have the skills of Our Lewis (TM), you could still hurt a lot of people.

Enjoy the car, but try not to give us all a bad name in the process.
Thanks for your input John, regardless of TA and all the countless achievements by many of the tuners in the past, there have been countless threads on this very same bbs who doubt the performance charachteristics of an Impreza on road. If there wasn't much doubt there probably wouldn't be such a high volume of responses and surprise at the result of the comparison.
Everything was on a road in the middle of nowhere, as said previously no one was in danger or risk of getting hurt in the making of the video. You of all people should know the risks involved in racing on the track, and I believe they probably outweigh the risks of accelerating in a linear fasion on an empty road.
A performance comparison video will not give "us" a bad name, and I maintain that there was no risks taken in the vid. If as an individual you or anyone else are concerned that a single video will diminish the reputation of the marque, than you/they are genuinely misguided. I respect everything you have said and again thank you for your contribution.

Yes i do, and no they dont. When things go seriously pair shaped give me a racetrack any day, it's safer for the car ocupants and other people in other cars or on foot behind barriers designed to keep the car away from the public.

Who cares if people doubt the performance of the cars on the road, they are clearly idiots and you shouldn't feel the need to prove them wrong by putting yourself in a position where you too look like an idiot.

I am sure you can justify to yourself that what you did was OK, but there are better ways to have fun that wont put you at risk of prison, if you need any tips on how to enjoy the car without looking a tit, drop me a line.

Hi Gary, i should have been at the 'ring for the oldtimer, but the racecar had a shunt at Brands so wasnt quite ready in time. I've just rebuilt the engine in my RA so hope to be out there with it a couple of times later in the year when we are racing at Spa. Fingers crossed i get the time as i havnt been all year so far.

I thought an 18g was only rated to about 370bhp??

Dunno what to say on the video, I can see the various points of view but I'm sure glad it isnt me on it.. far too risky posting things like that on t'internet after recent legal cases using footage from joe public tearing **** down a public road as evidence and successfully getting a conviction.

Cheers,

John you old man stop going on!

Why the hell do we all buy these car's? Why do we come on this site and spend loads of money on making them faster?!

The point of a subaru for me is I have a car that can take me, miss and the kids down to tesco or away for the weekend but still beat Mr 911 with his nice suit and all his shopping in the seat next to him as the car is good for nothing but looking good in!

Ok showing it all on vid is not the best idea but if there is anyone on here that has not taken there Subaru up to 140-150 on a public at some point should find another hobby!

R4lly showing the vid is just bad for you if the old bill do want to take this anywhere but your car is a beast mate and I am pure to you for making it!

As much as the Fast and furious was a rubbish film we all love the life style!

Rant over

There is nothing to be jelous of, i have a quick RA myself and get to drive cars with significantly more performance than any road car.

Old man, guilty as charged (to yoof anyway), but at least i lived long enough to be one, just. Been there, done that, grew up.

Regarding comments about this being filmed in the middle of nowhere, nobody at risk then take a proper look at the vid.

If you think doing 130-150 in the outside lane overtaking middle lane traffic with a closing speed of at least 40mph (probably more) is safe then more fool you.

If the road was deserted then perhaps you can justify your statement. But it wasn't

Racing on public roads is dumb.

Making a video of it is even dumber.

Leaving your faces and the registration plate of the M6 VN55MVC visible is dumbest.

Don't bother trying to delete the video.

Your video showed mid range that few cars look like they'd stay with..

Power to weight ratio

My old mk2 CRX VTEC only had 236bhp & 167lb torque but it only weighed 900kg. 262bhp per tonne so it was quite quick. Just to confirm I said quite quick & not faster than everything else. I'm amazed at how many times i've been flamed on other forums for saying it was quick
