It's all from the same place - Bulmers

Based in Hereford - can see the factory from my work As can T5NYW

Magners has no taste to it at all IMHO - cider's meant to have a bit of bite to it. And as for ice with it.

Well corrected!
Wife's grandad sold them their industrial unit (he builds them) - she's born and brought up in Rock.

Used to love it but prefer Skinners ale now.

Bulmers in Ireland (who sell their product in the UK called Magners) use many apples local to Clonmel (where they are based) and is a totally different product from the stuff called Bulmers in the UK.

St Austell equivalent is Tribute and I agree that the pump clip does look very similar to Doom Bar.

That brewery was outside my 6th form college and used to reek of hops on a Monday! We now get the odd whiff of Skinners brewery, just down the road.

Going free on the 30th, courtesy of some Cornish networking group for "young business people!"

Norburys Black Bull Cider - matured in rum vats 9.3% superb but not for a session if you can get - I get it from our local butchers

Henneys Frome dry cider very good as is Savannah Dry (south African)

M and S also do their own (it tastes like Henry Westons) and thats nice.

A much maligned drink is cider - there are some good ones around

(and some crap - white lightening or central heating for tramps as its known )

I thought that Bulmers/Magners actually had to import a lot of apples from England Drink up thy cider, it could be good for your health | the Daily Mail

Absolutely! Loved it though, great part of the world.

Had some good tips from Matteeboy on where to go, including Clovelly, as we were renting a cottage near Bideford, and had a fantastic time.

Woolacombe was an excellent recommendation too. Great place.

The article says Bulmers had to import apples to keep up with production, not 'import a lot of apples'. Bulmers have 250 acres of orchards and purchase a good deal of Irish apples. I'd imagine they'd top this up from apples sourced abroad when production requires.

Nice one! I'd forgotten about those recommendations!
