I`m a complete dentophobic (i think thats right onder: )
Dentist told me they are no longer allowed to do generals.

I had two cracked n fecked teeth out under local and it was strangely pleasant, grind the top off insert a rod down to the root, gives it a wiggle and prises it out, makes an awesome cracking noise

You`ll be fine just find a good dentist, like i say I was sh*t scared of dentists, but if you tell them your brickin it and find a decent one its actually fine.

I can also remember as a kid having fillings and extractions without any anaesthetic. Old fashioned drill driven by belts. Slow and very painful.

Young people nowadays, don't know they've been born, etc, etc

Hello

It is unusual for us guys to refer to hospital unless the tooth is really broken down, you have a special medical history, very nervous or it is actually a impacted wisdom tooth.

Anway not to worry the guys in the Oral Sugery Dept. are top at extracting teeth.

All the best

I think i had every "white angel" dentist going... if they had a secret method for using force , scaring, strange places for injections!! or even physical restraint, they used it....

no matter what regime i followed, how many times i brushed, flossed, gargled et al,, there was always something that needed doing.....

It got to the point that i stopped going,,,,and yes my teeth suffered, (mind you they weren't any good, because they always needed work.....)

i found by chance a very good dentist, who referred me to a local hospital, and they removed all of the top set back in the 80,s..

It didn't, and wont resolve my fear of dentists, but it helped..

2 years ago i had the remaining lowers out (only 11 teeth) and have been happy ever since....ok it does have some negatives....(peanuts are a no-no)

but on the whole i'm happy and although i don't like dentists..feel a little bit easier about going.... (only once a year though).

If you're nervous tell them and ask for something to calm the nerves. I used to be terrified of dentists and could get a prescrption for Valium everytime I needed a treatment! Valium rocks! They could remove your whole head and you really wouldn't notice, or care!

2 hours of torture.... and it had no effect whatsoever..

general anesthetic is the only way to go..

Twas wonderful Kettering Gen.

The dept seemed to be full of old men stetchered in who hadn't been able to pee for days and were in agony - why leave it so long?

Anyway, all four teeth cam out under a general and my mouth was a bit bruised for a few days/ head a bit woosey so I took a couple of days off. Not really a major problem TBH.

Ahh Kettering General Hospital..........not been there for a couple of years now. The Consultant Oral surgeon I knew there was a certain Mr Pratt, he was a great surgeon but came in for quite a bit of stick LOL

Cheers
