No he was indicating that if it went bang he would do that iirc. Cos the car had not been mapped before I mapped it (unless by open ecu) but even then the ecu data indicated it was a virgin. Car has exhaust, panel filter, fuel pump and a remap of course. Std stage one tune.

pm rec'd and reply about to be penned.

Wow, Some great figures from the 2.5L. I think it's time to get mine done when I get back from the Nurburgring.

I'm probably not going to bother with the plugs at this point.

Andy F advised me to get a decat downpipe, but I'm keeping the second cat to keep the car road legal. No idea what to hope for, but running a 2.5" exhaust and have a panel filter and uprated fuel pump to be on the safe side. Not a heavily modified car.

If your going to AF then he would advise you to fit PFR7B's if you asked him. He seems to like them plugs and gets good results from them. I emailed him about my car quoting I had Denso Iridiums VK22 fitted and he replied, I'd rather you fit some NKG Grade 7 plugs before you bring it to me.

So, my £70 spark plugs are coming out and some NGK's are going back in.

Anybody want some VK22, done less than 1000 miles??

You sure about that ? I would be impressed if it passed come MOT time. If you aren't heavily modifying you are better off losing the Cat pipe and keeping the down pipe.

Quote from Mike Wood @ Prodrive

"UK spec car has what you would class as a Sports cat as std"

Easier, cheaper and not much in it I would say.

Mike Woods quote taken from this post.

Confusing this I'm not after monster power or heavily modding it so you may be right... how much is it for a decat cat pipe then, if that makes sense or since I don't have the PPP fitted with the sports cat is it even worth it?

The reason for the remap is to get it to around 320-340bhp and to get better engine response across the power band.

I'm gonna change the plugs, only £40. You do just need 4 right? Me know nuthin lol

Are the NGK plugs listed below the same as the one's mentioned above?

There is a group buy on H&S rear cat pipes which I have on my Spec D and they are only £75, which is a bargain. If you just want to get better engine response across the power band I would strongly recommend this is all you do. Add to that an STi Panel filter, plugs and fuel pump and you will be very happy indeed. I have a H&S sports cat purely because I had it there. If I hadn't had it I wouldn't have bothered. Also if for any reason you have to claim on your warranty the cat pipe is easy to swap. I don't think you would have much problem getting a bhp figure in the region you hope for, and significantly more torque. I had mine remapped at Mocom Racing to 288/323 at the wheels which is lots considering the small amount of mods I have done. I think the Decat DP and keeping the rear cat is poor advice IMHO.

Is it Uk or Euro.... mine is UK. I was told the 2.5 didn't need one in the up-pipe as they are more emissions friendly than the 2.0s. Mine doesn't have one, have a look at yours and see for sure, i presume powerstation have so it must have one. Ah well

Tony.

mine's a malteser but i dont think there's a difference, dont think powerstation did look at the pipe they just took it for granted that it had one, i prosume they were talking from experience, andy forrest also said it would be a good mod and he really knows his way round a scoob, i think maybe the sti up-pipe is cat less, anyway soon find out.
