But its not an upgrade. Because it doesn't do anything better that the orginal factory one.

The fact is some people fit them thinking that it will benefit their car, when the truth is wherever they learnt that idea from was just a load of utter rubbish.

These people need to be made to realise that what second/thrid hand sales patter they heard off a mate or read in some third rate magazine is wrong and incorrect.

If its all about the noise, well, just remove the resonator in the front wing or fit a cone filter (another can of worms), then its all whoosh whoosh...with the factory valve!

Back to the Rally Question, does anyone know for sure that they do/not have DV'S and if so what system, and, if they don't, what and why.

The SN member who posted on here earlier didn't cover the above items.

Regards.

I agree that there is no gain to be had and that it is just an expensive way of getting the noise. But like you said about the resonator/air filter, there are plenty of products available which really are a waste of money and do nothing, including some exhausts and other pointless mods eg. cone filters on standard cars etc....
I do think that people need educating as to what works and what doesnt, but in reality most people learn through there own mistakes and misguided ideas.
On here there is plenty of hearsay and very dubious advice.
About 6/7 years ago I first used scoobynet different username then and the information was still free and most of the top tuners gave advice which wasnt for commercial gain, thats one of the big problems now, everyone is looking to sell something, hence plenty of misguided people with lots of expensive pretty bits that do very little.

Its been stated already but.... Group A cars use anti lag, no need for a dump valve, think the theory behind it is that you explode the unburnt fuel just after your turbo, doesnt do the turbo much good like but they replace them every 1000 miles anyway (after the engine rebuild)
DV question, recirc is the better one for an impreza as thats whats fitted, change it and it can cause engine problems (fuelling etc), can mess up what the ecu is doing (can lean out your mixture whilst its trying to compensate for the overfuelling caused by the vta dv) which isnt good.
AVT dv's are also annoying after a while, now if you want a real sound, twin scroll turbo, nice whistle off that all the time sounds nicer than a VTA and considerably less lag

I agree, over the years some good advice has come from this place, but at the same time advice has cumulated on here that initially had little factual basis. With it ending up like Chinese whispers where things get distorted or exaggerated, and call me cynical, maybe in aim to line somebody's pocket.

It's a shame things end up like that, as it does annoy me when people are influenced to feel the need to spend £150-200 on somthing that does nothing for looks nor performance and isn't needed, especially when it could be spent on something else on the car which would benefit its performance or looks instead.

Such is life; It's an exploitable market.

Thanks for all the replies, it seems to have answered my question.

So if i have this right, the WRC team dont use dump or recirc valves, they have no performance benefit and are just a cosmetic enhancement. Oh ye, and Lewis is banned.........AGAIN!!!

Ian (Blue Dragoon), Cheers for the link mate, well helpful
