Well that was good, there's nothing quite like a Typhoon heading directly at you on full afterburners then pulling up and rolling twice right over your head

BTW the Tiffy won again

Bah if the wings don't swing it's just not worth it. Jealous your dam right I am, but at least with the 22 ton flick knife we could have had a race down nearly the full length of the runway we need that much yardage to get into the air .

Try here for some pics and more on the way

Swingy wing things rock!

We're still at Coningsby and the TV crew and Bugatti have just come out again admid rumours of a fourth race....

We've also had a Harrier do a vertical landing right in front of us

Oh and the Spitfire did a display during which he passed overhead very low

We had a Typhoon come down for a flypast over Filton Airfield a few weeks back, while the Reds went off for a round of golf.

The Typhoon headed straight down the runway strip, and as it crossed the end threshold / A38 we could see some puffs of brown smoke. As it passed over our heads, the afterburners lit, and the Typhoon pulled up, barrel rolling up into the cloud - awesome!

It also set off most of the car alarms in the vacinity!! (except mine )

We stayed at Coningsby until about 7.30pm last night as TG did another run with the Bugatti and Typhoon but only down to the end of the runway and not back again as they'd done previously. I guess it was just for the benefit of the cameras. After that the Typhoon did plenty of cocking about in the sky whilst the helicopter filmed it. Then a Harrier came in and did a vertical landing right in front of us as an added bonus, it was only about 100 yards in front of us as we were round at crash gate 1 right in front of the VL pad

All in we had an excellent day and saw the four different races from three different locations and now I can't wait to see it on telly

That Bugatti sounds absolutely awesome but I've had to cancel my order as it's a bit slow

I am surprised you are so against deltas. They could get off the ground halfway down the runway into a vertical climb rolling back onto the downwind leg very easily. I use to have a great deal of fun doing roller landings at Cottesmore irritating the swingers who couldn't do that and doing a roliing departure straight off the runway to return to Waddington.

My mate is in the team that operates that Typhoon. He's an avionics technician. He was telling me they were oging to do it a few weeks ago! Didn't realise they had done the event already!

Looking forward to seeing it!
