Thumbs up New Driver

Hey!

I picked up my GB270 in March this year (No.49)
Lovin it so far - definately runs better on the super fuel - although I have made the mistake of filling up at Morrisons a couple of times and their choice is limited to unleaded or diesel!

Not had a Scooby before - so, I'm not sure if it's fast for an Impreza or not - but it's just about fast enough for me!

FANTASTIC!!!!

Cheers

Default Mats

Hey does everybody have the special branded GB270 mats?
Mine was supplied with blue WRX mats!?

Any ideas where I can get a set?

Cheers,
Malky

Number 198 Saloon here Will post pics up later.

No idea about the mats Malky, did they come with the ones with the leather interior? Mine has the cloth interior, but no GB270 mats, just WRX ones like you say.

Hey Big Al,
Cool, mine it the saloon too - I'll did out some of my pics too!
Although, I'm guessing they'll be pretty similar to yours!

Yeah, I upgraded the interior to the leather and alcantara - just 'cause I thought the embroidered seats looked better (to me), but just seen an interior picture of a GB270 with really smart front mats - fully embroidered!

Is this your 1st Scooby?

I wish I'd asked for the gucci interior at the time, but I got a good deal on car as it was.

Its my 3rd Scoob mate, Had a black WRX Bugeye before, then a Bugeye STI PPP after that. Then dissapeared to VW for a couple of years, now back in the GB270. Loving it so far, although its going back to the dealer on friday, as I reckon the discs are warped. (Its only done 3000miles! )

The gucci interior is nice - but I think that the seats are higher than the cloth ones. I got mine done as an aftersales job - and I actually prefered the position of the cloth ones!
How does the GB270 compare to the STi?
I find it fast - but I'm guessing that's because it's my 1st!
I've had mine since March and it's strange how "normal" it feels to drive now.
I remember picking it up from S&S Services after the 1,000 mile service and giving it the berries on the way home - and f*ck it was fast - now it feels as though I need MORE power and MORE grip and MORE acceleration!
It's just f*cken GREAT!
It's the 1st car for a long time, that I get out of and have to look round at because it's just banannas!!!!!

Do they actually replace the whole seat? Or is it just positioned higher to fit the Leather material? It does look fantastic though.

The GB270 aint as fast as my Old STi, but there aint a massive difference. Its certainly as fast, if not quicker than a standard STi, especially the 2.0Ltr Engine. The Prodrive Kit certainly helps.
My old STi had the Prodrive Upgrade on it, so was 300 or so brake. Certainly faster than the 270, with more rapid acceleration. Like I say though, not a massive difference TBH. I think your talking 4.8secs 0-60 for the STI PPP, and 5.2 for the GB270. No idea about 0-100 times however.

I got my car from John at S&S as well. Long drive from Dundee, but worth it. He's a top guy. I actually went down there with my heart set on buying a WR1 they had, but it wasnae the best example.

I just assumed that they replaced the seats!
I know the covers have zips on them - but it definately feels a higher position than the cloth ones......
Yeah, S&S have been really good to me, the whole team down there are great!
It must have been some drive home for you - limited to 3,500 revs!
Have you made any modifications to yours (yet)? or planning to???
Mine is just starting to lose the baffles from the exhaust and starting to sound SO sweet when accelerating - so I'm thinking about and induction kit (perhaps), to be honest I'm not sure where to start with tuning - I'm kinda guessing that the current set up is probably about the optimum anyways!?
What did you have done to your previous cars?

Yeah, it was a long old trek plodding away at 70! I've just had a TSL Ti-Phoon back box fitted to my car today, and it sounds awesome. Just as quiet as the Prodrive box driving round town, but sounds great when you give it some beans.

Other than that, prob gonna fit a GREEN Cotton Panel Filter, to free some more sound. Not really worth induction kit at the mo.

Looking to buy a Hawkeye Sti style roof/window spoiler, and was considering changing the colour of the wheels to an Anthracite/grey colour.

Other cars, I kept the STi pretty standard although it had the 18" Prodrive wheels. The WRX I put 18" WRC-1 Wheels, Haward + Scott system, and UK300 headlights. It also had the Prodrive Alcon Brakes (Which cost me £200 + VAT each, to replace the discs!)

What about yourself? I'd recommend a Panel filter, rather than a induction kit tbh. Thats what most people on here seem to reckon, unless your going down the line of a Re-map etc.

I'm not sure to be honest!
The noise is fantastic when it's opened up - especially in 1st, 2nd and 3rd!
I don't know what tuning is do-able without going mad!
The panel filter sounds ok - is it a straight swap or does the airflow meter need adjusting afterwards?
I'm happy with the Prodive exhaust at the moment - quiet enough when needed and noisy enough when needed!?
I don't want to spend a fortune - I'd just like it to be quicker! (of the mark!), not really that bothered about top end speed.
Got stopped by the cops last night - not for speeding ................. they just wanted to check the car over and have a look at the tyres....... all ok - but the plod that spoke to me reckoned that they'd stopped another scooby (an 08) with 3,000 miles on the clock - tyres through to the cord!

Aye its just a straight swap for the paper filter mate. Theres quite a few on the market. Green seem to be the most popular, but quite a few people use K&N, HKS, and STi.

That sounds the business then!
Easy to get to?
It's not squeezed down the side of somewhere unaccessible is it?
Do you reckon a standard Green panel filter for an STi would fit - or should I just search for one to do a 2.5?

They are usually by year of car, rather than model AFAIK. So something like this:

Scoobyparts Ltd GREEN PERFORMANCE PANEL FILTER

Should fit your car no bother. Not a big job to change at all. Sometimes can be a bit of a tight squeeze to fit in the airbox, due to its rubber seal.

Does anybody have the saloon with the privacy glass?
I think that the wagon looks good with it and wondered if the saloon looked as good?

Default Remote Interference

Can anybody shed some light on a problem I've been experiencing!?

I have this "thing" happen whenever I park at the side of a cetain petrol station (to use the cashline) and last night I even had to contact Subaru Assist.

The car sometimes will not respond to the remote key fob - I mean just nothing! Last night I thought that the batteries were perhaps done(?) and got the other set brought down to me at the Tesco's where I'd parked (again, just stopped to pick up some cash!).

I waited for the recovery truck to arrive (Kerr & Smith) and I explained to him what was going on. He looked pretty confused and suggested that we roll the car back a few meters and try again - either that or it was getting stuck on the back of the low loader.

10 meters later and normal service was resumed!

Is this a coding issue that I should get sorted or is it a common complaint from other drivers????

Any advice would be great!?

p.s. yes - I do have a pin for the wee keypad under the dash - but no I don't know the number, since I didn't really expect to need it 4 months into owning the car!

Cheers,
Malc

Unhappy

interference from other radio sources - like automatic doors, hospital radio ( almost always happens outside hospitals) and post office sorting depots are other dead spots to look out for.

Learn the code as often it's impossible to push it far away enough or whatever.

Thank's Fat Boy - I was well p*ssed off last night when I wouldn't play!
I guess I'd better dig out the code and stick it in my wallet for future use ......

Default Green Cotton Filter

That's the big green cotton panel filter in (on Friday) - didn't think it was gonna fit, but looks can be deceptive!
Sounds good.
Not sure about any improvement to performance, but a definate increase in noise!!!!
