Default build number

hi,
just bought GB270 saloon, but there is no build number badge on centre console and no GB270 badge on boot either. I understand the dealers fitted these and maybe in this case didn't bother. Is there any way to trace build numbers from reg/vin etc ?

Hi

Number 008 wagon here

Had it for 8 months now, it is very thirsty, unbelivable road tax, but still brings a smile to my face every time I drive it ........

worth every penny

Howdy

I am planning on developing a free online register for the GB270 mark, to sound out if any GB270 owners are interested?

The idea is that it would just be a website listing the cars that have registered and which town/county they are in, see where they have gone/modifications/picture gallery etc - also to give some background info on the car etc.

All very early stages at the moment but it would be good to see if there's any interest out there.

If you're an owner or know someone else that has one, can you pass on this info to them please?

Here's the website with an online form - http://gb270ownersclub.weebly.com/

or you can email me on gb270OC@yahoo.co.uk

Many thanks and much obliged - Roo

Default well done - good choice :)

Enjoy the car buddy - lots of smiles per miles coming up

If you want to register it with the Owners Club, (free of charge) that'd be great

I used to own Saloon number 214 - sadly it was traded into Eaglesham Subaru in 2010 (I think)

Raising this thread from the grave as I'm going to look at a GB270 tomorrow (saloon number 273 I am led to believe). What's the general consensus - highs, lows etc. etc. ?? Any insight appreciated.

Assuming you're comfortable with the fact it's a tarted up WRX PPP then it's not a bad car at all. I've had mine 18 months or so now and other than the legendary rear shock knock (and a **** aftermarket manifold that split) it's been spot on.

There is of course the joys of the heavily reported chocolate piston saga, which is something to be aware of but if you go into it with your eyes open then it's not really a reason to avoid the car.

Thanks Neil - yeah I'm very aware of the dreaded headgasket / piston issues and am admittedly apprehensive about moving from a bugeye upto a Hawk - it's one of the reasons for resurrecting this thread. Was wondering if any GB270 owners have suffered that unlucky scenario. Also read reports elsewhere of paintwork being a bit of an issue ?

Well I'm on 47k miles and it's still going strong, for what it's worth. As for paint issues, how do you mean?

There was some mention of a super thin paint coating and flaking off over on sidc:

Sorry folks, still doing my research on the GB270 - I was unable to get to view the car on Saturday having been caught up in the horrific events which unfolded on the M40. I have however, managed to get in touch with the previous owner, and to his credit he's mentioned an intermittent glitch with 4th gear, which seemed to be the gear missing or grinding into the gear - apparently an issue with some other gb270 owners - anyone heard of / experienced this ?
