LOL I know mate, I love my cars, I nearly ordered a new M5 last week aswell, if it werent for the attitude of the dealership and the argument over the finance package I would have had it.

So now im having a wee look at the new Rs6 saloon thats coming soon.

New over old for me, the only classic shape i would ever consider if money allowed is a 22b. The P1 is getting on a bit now and their are very few good examples of this car around, the ones that are around have already been snapped up. The engine like quite a few have pointed out is a big worry on the P1, go for the 04 or 05 Sti in my opinion.

Being a flat 4, the journels are very narrow. Also, what about the 'hardening process?

Take the p*ss if you want, but I know what i'd rather do once the engine is apart.

What people like Tony dont get is this, a Tuned car is no longer a standard easy to sell and insure car, there is something very cool about owning a proper UK prodrive subaru, designed and finished off here in the UK by the best in the business.

Tony, how the fck can a JDM sti 8 be more tuneable than a WR1 ?

And do we really care whether you have 360bhp and ive only got 322 ?

No because, I wont ever see you on the road, or a track and even if I did see you on the road, I wouldnt be entering into some childish street race !
I see you definately dont understand the differences between an MY03/04 JDM and a WR1.
Shall we start at the beginning?
The WR1 is a TUNED car, it comes with the PPP which was designed for this car, its FACTORY standard power is 265ps as its based upon the Solberg limited edition car.
Now if you want figures we can go that way, how is it more tuneable? simple, its mechanically superior, stronger internals, better engineering, totally different to drive.
Where as your WR1 and PPP dont come on tune till the mid 3k mark, these are on the ball below 2k, the twin scroll turbo is a delight, the cars are just a total breath of fresh air compared to a UK model.

For the insurance, no difference between a UK (standard 265ps 2ltr) and a JDM standard 280ps 2ltr) model, its quite amusing really, the PPP costs more to insure than a JDM

you may be interested, id easy give you a good discount on it if your a genuine guy, otherwise I was gonna leave it on pistonheads for a while see what happens, and then take it off and just chop it in for an X5.
That looks an absolute minter bbigman2000!!! Just what I am after, wasn't planning on changing for another 6-8 weeks when startnew job? You reckon it'll be gone by then? Any chance you could put interior pics on pistonheads. Tried to PM you but it says your message box is full.

I dont think so really, the fact is that people still have the "JDM" effect, where as a UK car is far more reliable, which isnt really true, just look at the P1, out of 1000, a good 3-400 must have had engine rebuilds, you even hear of the type UK cars blowing engines (unmodified) though no where near as common as the P1
The reason I pointed to the JDM car is that people are afraid by "horror" stories, which was true with the classics, but not with the twin scroll cars with the grooved/nitrated cranks and uprated internals, they are much stronger and the ecu's much better at coping with det (they retard much better and can even run safely on uk 98 ron fuel).
Its a car thats more reliable, comes better equipped and is nicer to drive with a far more linear power delivery and more torque (overall) with 80% delivered at 2.5k.
It also falls nicely in the price bracket and is easier to modify if you wish to go that route though like any scoob, its where you buy it from and what the history is like, so you have to look a bit harder

Crazy chemist, yes mate im sure it will be, im not advertising it elsewhere etc, and Ive stuck the price at 12k no offers now.

I'l just leave it on there until you need it.

If you could email me at info@moraysecurity.com

I shall get some interior shots for you bud, its getting a zymol on thursday next week aswell,.

Tony, The WR1 is a STANDARD car as far as subaru uk and insurers are concerned.

We all know the twin scroll jdm's are good, and cheaper to buy etc, thats fine if you want to go that route good luck.

I find it laughable when some people are saying that the P1 looks dated and that there are not any good examples left. The P1 is arguably one of the best ever Subaru's made.

I think poeple are quick to say about the engine problems but in reality I doubt there are many people on this forum who would not want one.

I have had a WRX PPP and can asure you that the performane figures did not match up, however I have never driven an Sti PPP although my opinion on PPP is not that high.

If you have never driven a PPP then how can you know ?! The new age sti ppp is a very very good package.

Some peoples perception of a MINT P1 and others may vary !! There's a few un molested ones left, but there owners for sure arent going to be parting with them, until the WR1 the P1 was the best scooby ever made.

I have owned PPP on a WRX and in truth was very dissapointed with it. I never said that the Sti PPP was not a good package, I just dont rate the PPP package.

I would much rather have a more exclusive car like the P1 than an Sti PPP. I would agree that the WR1 is a great car but it has still not caught the imagination of poeple like the P1 has.

It all depends what your after, the PPP is a good package if you want a bit more performance (and its noticable btw ) and its covered by the warranty.
The P1 does look dated now, park it next to a new age and you see that, though thats not to say its not a nice car, it is, but reliability has always been an issue since they started blowing engines, and its also well known that classics are more unreliable than their new age counterparts.

StuH lol, well that would make sense, a wrx ppp is a slow ***** what does that give ya 240/5 bhp !! the sti ppp is making a load of torque and 305bhp., with miles better brakes and suspension, variable valve timing and they rev much harder, not even similar.

As for the WR1 not having captured anyones attention !! I dont think there is many guys on here who would say no to the ultimate impreza.
