Don't if its been mentioned or if its true but I heard that some of the early elites haven't got the new chip.
Again, not sure if its true but the new chip is supposed to be cooler running and more reliable.
Don't know for sure.

I'm a bit worried about my 360 ......... had it since launch, always been used in a cabinet and still going strong!!
Its been subject to a few marathon sessions and has only had disc read errors on 1 or 2 discs.
I've always used mine horizontally and have had a Nikko cooling unit installed on the back since they were released.
I don't know anyone personally that has suffered with the rings of death issue.
An electronic device that fails so quickly when 1st used is often a result of poor handling within the distribution process. We often have problems with batches of equipment we get from the wholesalers.

My 2nd Elite is going back to the shop tomorrow - exactly the same thing happened. The second Elite was from the same batch and manufacturing date as the first so there is obviously a problem somewhere.
Machine was vertical on a wooden floor, with a balcony door open, blowing in a cool evening breeze.
