Absolutely stunned at this tragic news
I'm sure that the vast majority of Scoobynet members have been influenced in some way by Colin, and Subaru would not be where it was today were it not for him. Truly a great loss.
My heartfelt condolences to his family, and the families of Ben and Graeme.

Been in a state of shock since lat night, hoping against hope the reports were all mistaken and nobody had died.
Very sad indeed.
The first scooby I was ever in was a Series McRae and hooked from then.
His website has been updated now and has a fitting banner.

I'm still in shock, just can't beleive he's gone! He is the reason I've been a Subaru nut for over 12 years now, cost me thousands to boot, but I don't care! As he said "You're here for a good time, not a long time!"
Someone I know was at Knockhill a few weeks a go for the BTCC event, Colin was speaking in the SEAT hospitality tent. After his talk, the floor was opened up for questions. Someone asked him what the best road car was he'd driven, his answer....Subaru Impreza! :iagree: (nice one Colin!)
A great guy who will be sadly missed!

HELICOPTER CRASH – JERVISWOOD, LANARK
Regarding yesterday’s helicopter crash at Jerviswood, Lanark, it has now been confirmed that there were four people, two adults and two young children on board.
Although a post mortem has still to take place, the four involved are believed to be:
Mr Colin McRae (39) of Jerviswood House and his son Johnny Gavin McRae, aged 5.
Ben Porcelli (6), of Cleghorn Road, Lanark, who had been over playing with Johnny, and family friend Graeme Duncan (37), of L’Ile Degaillot, Faycelles, France.
Chief Superintendent Tim Love, Divisional Commander, South Lanarkshire Division, said today:
“We believe that the group were just returning from a visit to the nearby village of Quarter around 1605 hours yesterday, when it appears that the helicopter got into difficulty and crashed within the grounds of Mr McRae’s family home.
“Our officers are working closely with the Air Accident Investigation Team who are presently at the scene.
“Family Liaison Officers have been appointed and are with the families to help them through this distressing and difficult time.”
Please note that the families involved are not available for interview and media are asked to respect their privacy at this time.

Peace be with you.
Posted last night with the hope it wasn't true.
Rest in peace Colin, Johnny, Ben and Graeme.
My thoughts go to the families and friends.

Just a thought, I've printed this from the McRae website, trimmed it and placed in car.
follow this for the image only http://www.colinmcrae.com/header.jpg
looks subtle and appropriate.

How is this for a nightmare co-incidence with Dave Richards today:
BBC NEWS | England | Essex | Rally boss in helicopter escape
Someone said everything happens in threes......

Its a sad day for motorsport .
My heart felt sympathies go out to all the families involved in this tragic loss of life. I can only begin to imagine how they are feeling.
Colin was a legend in Rallying and a great ambassador to the sport. He, along with Richard, will always be remembered at the wheel of Subaru, and without a doubt influenced my interest in brand, and my continued following of the sport. He will be greatly missed .

A few of us, 24 at 10hrs notice turned up, laid a tribute on behalf of the Subaru community this morning at the foot of his Private Rd. Tribute included Blue and Yellow flowers, hand written tribute waterproofed, framed picture of him in L555BAT that i treasured, SWRT T Shirt and a Saltire flag.

We arrived quietly and we left quietly.
The police would not let us go up the single track road leading to his house as the investigation was still ongoing but i am going past every day, i was his delivery driver for DHL. Once the police cordon is lifted i will move the tribute further up to the Front gates of the estate and after 3 weeks i will return and remove anything left behind as not to annoy anyone connected
Thank you
