Like so many others on this site, Colin was the inspiration behind me buying my first Impreza in 1998. Without doubt, the most exciting rally driver ever, and he will be sadly missed. This tragedy is just so much worse for ending the lives of two young boys, who had their lives in front of them.

Rest in peace Colin Mcrae.
Very upseting for his life to come to an end at the age he was, especially with a family so young. My thaughts go out to his family and all involved.
A massive loss to rallying,he will be greatly missed.

it was interesting to hear on NZ radio this morning, from a UK reporter, that a "group of Subaru drivers, believed to be from an internet site, drove to the McRae house and delivered some flowers"
scoobynet folk?

Met the man himself back a few years ago at Brands Hatch - Festival of 1000 bikes, and was lucky enough to see him thrash a focus round the track, which was supurb!!
A man that touched many people.
Rest in peace Colin, Johnny, Graeme and Ben.

This may or may not be the best place to post this, but has anyone thought of any sort of tribute?
I for one would be very proud to have a Mcrae emblem on my scooby, think it would be a fitting tribute.
Unsure how we could go about it, maybe one of the forum sponsors are able to design / mfcr something?
Not talking about a cheap sticker, maybe something along the lines of the STI badge, however, obviously Mcrae?
Anyone else have thoughts on this?

It’s terrible news. I never tire of watching in car footage of Colin; the speed he could get out of a Scooby (or anything with wheels, seemingly) was simply astounding!
For me, the footage I remember best is a segment he did with Clarkson, who was asking the question: 'what makes some people faster than others', on the series 'Speed'. There was some footage of Colin expertly piloting his Focus WRC car through a practice stage and, of course, Clarkson had to have a go!
Watch Colin play along with Jezza’s jibes and his reaction as Jeremy stalls. He begins by being amused, but then you can see him kind of bite his lip so he doesn't appear unsupportive or disrespectful to someone who's having a go. It's easy for people with his kind of talent to become arrogant, distant and be rather aloof to people who don't share their abilities, but not Colin. He always appeared gracious, polite and exhibited a great sense of humour.

It’s interesting that for every accolade you find on here about his talent as a driver, you find three more relating to what a nice guy he was.
God bless, Colin: you put Subaru in the hearts and minds of an entire generation, set the standard for WRC drivers and gave the UK a champion, and above all else, a gentleman and a sportsman of which we can all be proud.
You'll be missed a great deal.

Colin was undoubtably the most famous rally driver in the world. I will treasure every moment I stood at the side of a special stage waiting for his car to appear.
Colin grew up with Subaru and his name on our cars resulted in where we are today.
I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the McRae's and the other two families who have hit by this tragedy.
He will always be remembered in our hearts. RIP
