A true fearless fighter - and a true Scooby Braveheart who inspired many, old and young, bringing world rallying to the British public for the first time. Long may his memory live, and long may his family be comforted in the knowledge that so many will miss him too.

Like so may others just wanted to add how shocked I was at the loss of a truly nice guy. Im just old enough to remember the last few rallys his dad did and to see Colin take over from him was great.
My thoughts are with his family and the families of the others involved.

What an absolute tragedy. Colin McRae was a hero and a genuine nice guy, not to mention an extremely talented driver. He will never be forgotten.
My sympathy and respect go to his family.

I reached for the internet when I first heard the news and have been reading the pages of messages since, it still hasn’t sunk in yet. What a sad day, a hero has gone and in such tragic circumstances leaving three families devastated by grief, my sincere condolences.
Like so many people have said Colin brought Subaru to the attention of the world with his amazing talent. I remember being proud to be Scottish when he won the World Championship and the image of him doing doughnuts with the St Andrews cross flying out the window will stay with me forever.
RIP Colin, Johnny, Ben and Graeme

Though I only had the opportunity to interview him a couple times, he was a man I very much admired. Considering how much this has affected me, I can't even fathom what his family must be going through right now.
This is my final interview with Colin at the X Games in LA. The clip also features some footage from his 39th birthday party thrown by the Subaru team on the day of competition:

I'm trying to find the footage of a hairpin turn with a photographer standing right on the tip.
McRae uses him as a human apex and spins the front quarter of the car round him while taking the turn, closing in to within inches of him before driving off without a backwards glance
:
I'll keep looking,
astraboy.
