hmmm, i can kind of see where you are coming from, it's just a shame you worded it in such a bad way.

bottom line is without colin the subaru brand, car, rally status and even this board wouldn't be as large as it is (maybe even not around at all) for this i think the guy deserves all the accolades and respects that anyone of us that have never met him choses to post up.

If I worded it badly then I apologise to anyone I have upset

I didn't start the thread to troll and I dont think it's been taken that way.

I never met the guy, but I have taken pictures of him doing his stuff in the past

It would appear that a few of you know where I was coming from when I started the thread and obviously I stand by that feeling.

I cannot begin to think how his family feel at the moment

It's all getting a like when Diana died on this site, (you know what I mean)

What upset me more was that his 5 year old son died as well.

As for GP comments, why the hell shouldn't he post a perfectly reasonable observation

I think the infraction thing was a joke.

What I found distasteful was the plans for stickers, cruises, and other stuff that could not even wait until he'd been CONFIRMED dead.

I do think his opinion is wrong, personally - but, an Infraction is a bit harsh?

I feel that someone like Colin McRae touched people without having to know him personally and so those people feel a sense of loss and wish to show their grief in some way or another. If that means a sticker or black ribbons, so be it.

I will simply remember him and feel a sadness for his wife and other members of his family.
I agree.

This is incorrect use and abuse of the infraction system . The person who issued this should be made aware of this and have their infraction abilities removed. Because they cannot digest the correct use of of the system to stop trolling. It is not there to bully someone because they have a differing opnion or view.

GP is not a troll. He has an opinion. People should respect that, and they are free disagree with it as much as they like. But it does not break the rules of the forum, and therefore should not gain an infraction.

Thumbs down

Whilst I think it is very sad that CM has gone, and he did inspire alot of people, I think that the deathe of celebrity/sports person/whatever in this country has got out of hand.

Perhaps GP could have worded it better, but he is pretty much on the button. Ninety nine percent of the people on this board have not met him, and if he had died but it had not reported for a week, your lives would not have been any different. What I mean is, if someones death really affects you, they are close enough to make a difference straight away, like to Alison, or Holly or Jim.

Please keep things in perpective and stop giving GP a hard time. To infract him is ridiculous. What next, book burning?

Guys

Fact and fiction is not always the clear deliniator between right and wrong.

There are things called "good / bad taste", "insensitivity", "poorly judged timing", "context", etc.

People on here are complaining about GP being condemned for having a view point. Think about this. HIS post was condemning others for having a view point, hence it was infracted.

There was no need, benefit, or value to the originaly post, apart from to simply condemn the feelings, actions of what is clearly a large portion of this community.

This is the reason the infraction is justified and has been upheld.

I'm closing this thread now, as "well its true so there's no problem in saying it", doesn't always hold true.

Please post in ScoobyNet Policy if you would like to discuss this decision further.
