Having just seen Kurt Russell in 'Deathproof' I would have to say that a single bucket seat is cool .....just potentially dangerous for the passenger . If you don't know what I am on about go and see the film - excellent V8 action to boot

Why would there be safety implications of fitting a fixed back seat ion a non caged car Bob?

M£ CSL is a prime example. ???

I have a harness bar at the mo and full 3" harness anyway. Although i cant see it being long before a cage goes in anyway lol

in the event of a roll and the roof collapsing it could get messy with no give in the seat and you strapped into it.

I just doubt the above statement. I think before the stock seatback gives, the driver's head will have sustained significant injuries. AFAIK, it is not designed to give at all.

And my Bride bucket seat does not seem that rigid, I can feel it bend slightly at the thigh support when I'm doing a tight corner.

Actually I think the plastic bucket seats would be safer than the metallic backed stock seats since the plastic will bend slightly. And typically you will fit the bucket seat lower so less chance of the roof actually hitting you, once it caves in.
