Sorry but I have no sympathy when you were driving uninsured. My brother got 8 points and £2k for no insurance. His insurance was cancelled automatically as the new company had not received his proof of no claims and they did not bother calling him first !!!! Good old Royal Mail.

Hi people,
I have been after a scooby for ages and i finally got a lovley sti type r running 330bhp loads done to it and a stunning looking car, well on the drive home and manage to somehow spin it on a roundabout, hit the curb and flip it into a ditch!! i cant belive it im still in shock. The worst thing is i wasnt insured as my insurance company was shut on sunday so i was planning to do it monday morning. Im so gutted the car is completley f*cked, the engine seems ok its just the body, the roof is caved in one one side all the lights are smashed and most of the right hand side is f*cked! so bascially i have lost the car. would it cost a lot to get a new shell for the car and have everything moved over or would i be better to sell the car as it is for parts? or any other suggestions would be a great help thanks.

if you had insurance on another car you'd be driving on 3rd party if you still have that insurance valid?
and how do you lose it on a roundabout?
no sympathy here either.
NOTE 2 ONESELF: new car, drive dead careful on way home..... as not driving it fully comp!

Unlucky, you should be more carful and not try drifting it around roundabouts in the dry because you will just go into them, LOL. No insurance as well, jeeeez I would want to die after paying that money for a car and ****ing it up on the way home...innit
We have a gang of hoddies sniffing glue outside, if you need any more translating just ask.

theres companys online where you can get insurance cover for the day cant remember the company i used think it was norwich union but theres lots doing it. i used this method when i picked mine up on a sunday but i ended up taking out the 1 month cover for me and the wife think it was around £30.
unlucky fella but beleive it or not it could of been alot worse if you would of smacked into another car or even worse hurt or killed somebody.
lesson learnt though im sure....

Thrid party: yes. Car owned by another: yes. Insured elsewhere: not unless it plainly and clearly says so on the certificate, ie: 'not owned by you and seperately insured'.

Sorry to hear your bad news mate!
Don't worry about all the people on here going on about you not being insured!
Do you really think there is a person who has never not got in a car and drove it with out insurance?
Like taking a mates car for a quick spin or moving there mothers car off the drive (and just because you have fully comp you are not able to drive any car TPFT)
I did this when i was alot younger when i test drove a bike i was about to buy and got pulled by the fuzz. Got 8 points and £300 fine!
So get ready to be hit hard when they take you to court as that was 5 years ago for me and things have got a lot harder with the law these days!
All the best but really.... Forget about another Scooby! Your looking at the wrong side of 2G insurance

I've had a STI Type R and you do need to be going some before you get to the stage of ending up in a ditch, long as its normal dry road conditions of course. You should have been driving more sensibly young man!!
Anyway, when I was looking to get another JDM Scoob I think it was A-Plan Insurance who would have covered me (fully comp) on the day I was going to look at the car. They said something along the lines of they can prepare the insurance before I buy the car (as I was travelling up to Yorkshire from the south so only wanted to make the one trip up there) then if I got it I would be covered anyway but if I didn't they give you 14 days to cancel the insurance and you get all your money back in full and doesn't cost you a penny.
I know it's no good to you now but might be to someone else?

I've always had insurance on every single car I have ever sat in
(trade policy )

No excuse 'fraid, having insurance is the law for a reason. Still, glad nobody else was affected in this inccident
(unless the car ended up in somones front garden - which often happens on a road by me )

With a trade policy are you not only insured if you phone the cmpany and tell them what you are driving? Or is that just to get a cover note?
All so not everyone is as lucky as you at having one.
Give the guy a break guy's could it be any worse?
He spent 8k! Crashed it! And now is looking at 8 points plus and a nice fine! If he dose sell the parts off the car that will all go on the fine anyway.
I feel for you mate

Bad luck mate. Those roundabouts are designed to tempt you in and then spin you out...
Good luck explaining to the law what's the crack with the insurance. I'd check with any living relative and your house policy just in case you could claim to be even in the slightest bit insured. Otherwise it's a case of buy a Ford Ka < 1.0L and look sombre and chastened in court.
Regarding the 3rd party clauses in some or most fully comp. policies. The ones I've seen normally waffle something like.... "3rd party cover providing the policy holder does not own the vehicle and it is not contracted under a hire purchase agreement." They all tend to have minor difference so it's worth a read...
If you're after a shell, IMO it doesn't have to be a 2 door. Though maybe a Type-R estate could be even more edgy.... If you get a shell, remember to check the numbers.... Assuming it's got some.

Very sorry to hear about the crash mate.Glad to hear you're ok.
You said you where not going to fast round the roundabout! To be honest mate if you were going fast enough to flip the car on it's roof after hitting the curb you were going to fast either 1 for the road conditions or 2your driving skills.

i wonder if you would be saying the same if he would of crashed into your pride and joy or worse killed one of your close friends or family members.
i can predict the scoobynet headline now SOME IDIOT UNINSURED DRIVER HAS WROTE OF MY CAR.
sorry but theres no exscuse for having no insurance and then obviously driving like you just pinched it
its not about how much he has lost ie,money, car its about the fact he could have killed someone in my eyes and im not a moaner fact is if you couldnt get insurance dont drive it fact end of.
