It doesnt matter what they say: the cover provided is as described on the certificate. Their interpretation doesnt offer alter the cover described. If the endorsement states that the car must be insured elsewhere for the cover to be in effect, then so be it, it it doesnt then the cover exists.

Fair enough Simon. You have your interpretations, my insurers and a family member who is in the police force has another. I'll trust them thanks

From: throwing pieces oot a 20 storey flat
Its not the first scooby i have had, and i have been driving performance cars for over 5 years now, i had done a few roundabouts on the way back quicker, and this particular one i wasnt even going that fast. I swapped the impreza for another car and the deal had to be done that day really as the chap i did the deal with works away a lot.

To pay somebody to re-shell the car for you would cost ££££'s.
To do it yourself, if you can, would be a good plan.
You are a daft sod for getting yourself in this position to start with as you may not have been so lucky and a third party could have been involved but you are in this position and the only way is forwards.
If you can do the work, then shell it, if you cant, then sell it

Buy a Delorean, go back in time, kick the living $hit out of yourself before you get into the car Make sure your unable to drive car until Monday so you need to give yourself a right 'doing' over If u think about it this is a win win situation, your cars in tact, no points on licence and no fine to come.
and everybody on here won't be tearing a strip off you for what happened
Everybodys happy
I'm off now after giving u that useless piece of information

I've not had a policy for a long time that permitted me to drive (according to the policy documentation) another car unless it was already insured in its own right....its all different now, way back when you had 7 days from changing you car in inform them, during which your new car was insured in place of the old.

When I was banned for dangerous driving, I had a car sitting outside my house for a month while I tried to sell it, so I cancelled the insurance. after about 3 weeks, the police knocked on the door asking whose it was (it had a flat and bird sh@t all over.) I told him all of the above and was done with no insurance. 8 points and £175 fine.
He told me to get it shifted and when I asked him how I could do this without insuring the car, he told ,me "anyone with fully comp insurance could drive it TPFT, even if the owner doesnt have a policy on the car."
I now have a UK Impreza with 320bhp, I still have my 8 point and the dangerous driving charge and I'm £880 fully comp with Egg.
It could have been worse, mate.
Although £5500 lost? Jesus...............

well the car was worth 8k so i have lost most of it. the police were really good about it, a traffic cop came and just gave me a producer, apparently your supposed to get a £200 on the spot fine, maybe he felt sorry for me

Some police force areas have fixed penalty tickets that are £200 and 6 points for people who drive without insurance.
Because of the aggrevating factor that you crashed a ticket probably isn't suitable so you might be going to court
