A wee update, I had a CT scan done on my brain on Monday, they discovered I had one in mint condition (never been used
)
Anyhoo I went to see a surgeon the same day who showed me the scan (amazing technology) on his pc, the aneurysm is small, between 3-4mm and shouldn't cause me any problems providing I don't smoke or get rat arsed too often ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
He gave me 3 options about dealing with it
1. leave it be, live a healthy life and return for another scan in 9-12 months, if all is the same further scans every 3-5 years.
2. get a coil put round the aneurysm (which is done via an artery in my leg) but there is a risk of it causing a stroke due to it being close to where the blood vessel splits
3 Brain surgery, where they open my head to fix it (double
) If I got this I' not be allowed to work or drive for a year providing I had no seizures in that time..
Guess which option I'm going for??![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I also had an ecg yesterday, got to wait a week for the results, but they think it's something called 'Wolf parkinson white syndrome' (sp) which is just an uncomfortable but not life threatening common condition![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
As for my throat I'm just waiting for the next appointment to get 1 of 3 more op's
although my voice is better now than it has been for donks ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
So all in all, things are looking good, my stress levels have decreased dramatically, I can sleep at night without worrying about my brain going pop now![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Tam the (soon to be healthy living) bam
PS. Les when you going for the camera thingy?
Scoob99, hows the ball?

Hi Tam,
Glad the scan was ok and yes I imagine that you are taking the same option that i would. As long as they keep tabs on how it goes on over time you will be alright.
I had the nose camera job and as you say it was not too bad, the first 10 seconds were the worst. It was fascinating to see and I have always wondered how food and air gets sent off in the right directions. Now I know having watched it all working I am amazed at the design and how it is all laid out and what it all does.
He said I have excess mucous which stems from smoking and even though it is years since I stopped-it takes a very long time to get cleared out completely. So I will have to put up with the occasional "frog in throat" bit. It can also be caused by the anti acid reflux pills that I have to take as well. The good news was that everything else is clear of anything nasty so that is a big relief of course.
Hope all goes well with the "op" that you have coming.
Good luck to you too Scoob 99.
Les

Great news Les, mine is still causing me pain
but I have to get on with it I may have to have the fluid drained
but it's a small price to pay.
Cheers

I think you should go for Option 3. From the months I've spent on this site I know if you post asking for a brain surgeon, there's bound to be at least half a dozen who can get out their box of spanners on your driveway and do the job for you! And video it at the same time to post on U-tub.
The only thing is you may wake up with a glowing bright green pixel in your left eye, courtesy PSLewis!
Good luck!!

Only just read this - great news for you. I hope it all goes well in the future.
I had a CT scan when I had concussion. They found a huge lumpy cyst on top of my brain.
Good news is that it's apparently a benign fatty cyst (a bit like the organ it's sat on top of!!
)
Amazing technology though
![Cool](images/smilies/cool.gif)
Scoob99 - hope all gets better soon too.
Perhaps we should start a Scoobynet "ailment" sub-forum - everybody could post up their illnesses!!![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Thanx guys
The help and support from you guys through all of this is mucho appreciated
I've got to have possibly 2 more operations (the next one is March 28) to finish things off completely, but it's only to tidy things up, being able to speak normally now is sooo brilliant, even my kids said they had forgotten what my voice sounded like..
Anyhoo thanx again guys
