Meh, touch and go. Now if it was an A380, I'd have issues.

Now if it was a 707 doing a barrel roll...well, we've all heard about that one ....:YouTube - 707 roll

"You know that [The plane can barrel roll], We know that. But just don't do it anymore"

Life is dangerous.... Get over it.

With the rules and regs in place even if it did crash it would have only killed the pilot (and crew if it has any during displays, I don't know)

If they all agree to take the risks to put on a good show and it goes **** up they eat dirt... they wanted to do it.

Namby pamby ******* laws these days wrapping us all up in cotton wool.

Been discussed on pprune to the death last week.

IMHO absolutly zero margin for error. As such the pilot (TAP CP) is a fool.

Fuzz, the one in the Ukraine killed 84 and injured another 200, that was a fighter, not a big airliner, watch the full video and you get some idea of the carnage.

I love to see a bit of daredevil flying but the consequences when it goes wrong do not bear thinking about.

I agree with you absolutely. That level turn at that sort of height was very dangerous and I think he was lucky to get away with it both that time and any other time he might do it. It also appeared to me that the turn was not as well balanced with respect to the rudder as it mght have been. As I mentioned in my earlier post a climbing roll off the runway is easy to do in safety as long as you ensure the the rate of climb is faster or at least no slower than the rate at which the inner wingtip is going downwards. The right way is to play it so that the wingtip never goes downwards. That is not difficult to do by the way. A wings level low level run along the runway is also safe enough to do, not that much difference to the judgement required for landing.

We were quite rightly very heavily supervised in our display rehearsals to ensure that whatever we did was not dangerous however thrilling it might appear to be. If you stepped out of line at a display, that was the last one you would ever do!

They changed the rules about what you allowed to fly toward / over after that crash
So it wouldn't have hit the crowd if it spanked the deck!

Is that Flanker photoshopped? Only he's got negative pitch on the tailerons - even if he's pushing against ground effect I'd expect him to be converting a lovely aeroplane into several tons of scrap very, very shortly...

Unless I've missed something?

Why would it be negative? Do you fly Flankers????

Each plane has it's way to fly, and maybe he trimmed it nose up and is applying forward stick.......maybe!

I have to find that pick of 707 beating up some grass r/w in such a way that it caused several light a/c parked along the r/w to get chucked about due to wake turbulence and engines!

There is of course the famous St Maarten / airport known for it's beach approach but I think the third pilot needed a few thousand horses extra to get on the beginning of the runnway.

Why so confrontational?

Negative because you can clearly see they are pointing downwards. That's waaaay more than countering trim, IMO.

ot flow a Flanker, no. I fly/flew helicopters most of the time. Spent a lot of time in Russia, though, and am familiar with their extremely wide flight envelope...

...because if you look at these photos, it seems as if the stabilator in the original photo is "flush" with the rest of the flight control surfaces:

Even though they are different flight phases..........
