Well, I was having a great lap in the Clio and had just overtaken a German Golf, and been overtaken myself by the Ring Viper, when I came round a blind corner and there's a biker down in the middle of the track trying to drag his bike off the tarmac.

I swerved one way, fishtailed and finally ended up on the grass between the armco and the biker. Was pretty close to running over him. The Ring Viper had hit the armco and had a wheel hanging off.

Luckily there were plenty of other people around to make sure the biker was OK, but it took me a while to get going again. I think I was in shock....

I've called the police (on a seriously drunk driver)
I've called an ambulance (quite a few times come to think of it )

and on Boxing day, stopped on the hard shoulder of the M5 and asked if I could be any help to what looked like a flat tyre (it was an older bloke not a bird so there was no ulterior motive there! )

One thing I do turn a blind eye to is street fights..
Can't be doing with getting stabbed thanks.

Depends on the odds of a street fight. I would never try and break one up, but would watch on and call the police (ambulance if needed) and help with any injured parties.

Fair play to those who would or have stopped to help too

Sounds scary clare, very lucky for all parties too. Glad your ok.

had to call the police a couple times this year.

1st was when a group of polish immagrints started being boistrous to a couple of 8-9 year old kids, threatening behaviour etc. called the bobbies, and by the time one of the said polish dudes was approaching the kids, he had a bleeding nose, and i had a bleeding knuckle.

funny i forgot to mention that to the police

2nd was last friday. party 7 doors down, few beers and recreational drugs floating about. wasnt bothered so much, as long as nothing happened. it did, some dude pissed/drugged upto **** had obviously "been rather cross" with his mrs/**** buddy, and decided to spill it onto the street at 11.30pm. attaked several cars, threw several unopened carlings about, one hitting my front passenger wheel. saw red, mrs grabbed the phone and i was straight outside in my shorts. another neighbour had to restrain me from clocking this ***** (ironic considering said ***** had just put his head through restraining neighbours car window), and they did one down an alley.

police came, did statements jada jada, went to the house for a mooch about. suprise suprise, disappeared. saw the guy later that morning (around 3am) while i was mooching around alone outside, still furious. profusely apologised to me (i was kinda bricking it at this monent). said he was trying to get off the "phet"

left it at that. think i need to keep calmer in these situations myself.

I would consider it an absolute dereliction of duty and complete lack of responsibility not to do everything posiible to help regardless of what the incident is.

Errm, because I made the initial calls to the emergency services, and waited on scene, as I usually do

I think this line explains that, "Before that 6 years doing mobile security (lots of night driving)"
Key holding, alarm responses etc

And 2 more brushes with the law today lol.

1st, a routine stop by an unmarked 5 series in Catford, apparently following up on a report of a black Impreza being driven fast, but later followed up by the comment, " we just wanted to chase a scooby"
Stop took, oooooooh 3 mins, PNC check and done.

And just this minute got back in from a 999 call to the police reporting a rather large fight in Brixton, 20-30 youths, bottles etc.

Told you, trouble finds me, or I find it lol

In the past I have phoned the emergency services on a couple of occaisons from the motorway, although I have stopped, being on the motorway I was too far past the scene to be of any assistance and it is always prudent to put your own safety first.

When I was younger I have stepped in to stop a couple of assualts, and a guy beating up his girlfriend, which I wouldn't bother to do again now I am older and wiser, I would call the police instead!

I'm now a basic paramedic EMT and I now have a "duty of care" which means I technically have to stop, and I would stop if I witnessed something, if it was safe to do so. I've stopped at several fender benders in the last six months or so.....

I can't imagine anyone just carrying on and not even making the phone call if they witnessed something....

Good on ya mate Must be nice in a sense to be trained to actually help. I can only ever use basic knowledge to assess people and help.

You say about cant imagining people not stopping but here is a great example, thankfully not involving actual injury.

SW8 London, 9am, walking up the street outside a busy supermarket is a clearly deranged man, in a long coat. As he crossed in front of my car he produces from his belt 2 small axes (sort of thing you would buy from Homebase / B&Q, no sheths on them. He proceeds to start swinging them about martial art style, but clearly with no training. First attacking a lampost, then other road furniture, thankfully no one walking by at this point.

Already hitting the 9's on the mobile, seconds later through to the police and they are on their way. I continued to monitor him and give feedback on where he was.

3-5 mins later, the first unit arrived, 2 officers, we located him in a petrol station taking a drink from the air/water machine. Cornered, the 2 officers took him down, armed only with asp's

Got to work, and told a few of the guys what had happened. To my shock, one replied "Oh that nutty guy with the axes, I saw him, I knew someone would end up calling the police, thats why I didnt bother"

Well done !! a 2 min FREE phone call, to possibly save peoples lives.

Seems I work with a few of those actually. 2 of the guys stood by the office windows like meer cats the other afternoon, commenting on a guy trying to park. After about 2-3 mins the guy looked up saw them and drove off. At that point they finally decided that it looked like him and the 2 young lads in the van with him were probably trying to park to have one of the mopeds parked there away.

Strangest part is, one of the 2 guys watching parks his 57 plate R1 there too! Idiot.

As for the guy with the axes, im shocked at how few people looked like they were doing anything about it.
