Adam, out of interest, if you have a "hair brained" idea, but no working product, could you still obtain a patent or do you need to build at least one? what if you have an idea, but no plan (or no clue, as in my case
)

you need a working model in america, you dont in the uk or europe.
You can have an idea, most patent agents will (if they are worth their fee) suggest improvements, or discuss pitfalls, so that in the end you will have a considered plan even if it still in the idea stage. At that point armed with a patent on an idea only, you can attempt to persuade someone to make and sell it and give you a commission (which ranges between 5 and 10% normally, or a one off fee, but that is getting beyond my knowledge)
David, you are truly a moral person
, surely you should make your comapny a non profit organisation and find jobs for people out of the kindness of your heart. Perhaps you could doante all your cars to scoobynet too, and start up a share car club?

Well.. all of my products/websites are free to use.. You only need to pay if you want to (and thankfully many do)![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
As for the cars, keep dreaming![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)

I have 3 things that will make the world a better place.
1. The heated steering wheel.
No one gives a crap about heated seats.. it's not your bum that gets cold on a sub-zero morning, it's your hands. Having warmer hands is safer too.
2. The Pyrex/See-through toaster
How many times have you popped-up your toast only to find it's not done yet, then put it back only to then burn it (cos it thinks you've put a new slice in). If your toaster was see through (with an opaque catch tray to hide the crumbs) you could see when your toast was ready.
3. The sensible 1.5litre soft drink bottle.
The current 1.5litre bottles of fizz found in shops these days have a stupidly high centre of gravity, and they're very narrow... so what to the bright sparks at the manufacturing plant do ? They actually CURVE the bottom of the bottle making it even easier to topple over.. why not just make the base cone shaped for crying out loud, it'd be just as unstable. Practically every time I get a bottle of fizz out and set it beside the sofa, I knock it over.. or a gentle breeze topples it.. or perhaps it gives in to it's precariousness and spontaneously falls over to save me the trouble. Result, flat cola.
So.. I propose to have shorter, fatter 1.5 litre coke bottles (which in fact would use less plastic and be environmentally friendly) that don't topple over at the slightest whim
There. I feel better now.

Sorry, see-through toaster's already been done.
I always wanted heated golf clubs. You could have a battery in the bag and some prongs sticking up from the bottom, a heater element inside the (hollow) shaft and a connector in the little hole at the end of the grip. They'd get heated whenever you put them in the bag.

I designed a system as part of my thesis.....(snip) 10 years later and still no-one has come up with something similar.

Fast Bloke
Did you have anything to do with the two stoke jag V12 that your university built? Would have loved to have heard that running.
