Got to be The Fifth Profession by David Morrell or maybe The Talisman from Stephen King and Peter Straub or possibly the Dream Warrior books from Graham Masterton or even possibly any Myron Bolitar from Harlan Coben or depending on mood any of the Harry Bosch from Michael Connelly

So to sum it up my one fav book is in fact Stephen Kings, IT lol

Sorry to drag a few books in but it is such a hard hard question to answer.

"Dilbert : The Joy Of Work" by Scott Adams - Always dipping back into this book.

I'll also recommend "Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson and "Red Storm Rising" by Tom Clancy

Red Dragon - Thomas Harris. As I was reading it I couldn't believe someone could be warped enough to think up that sort of thing. Also thought what a great film it would make. Film was made but low budget - Manhunter. Next book was given the full Hollywood treatment mega success - Silence Of The Lambs.
Hollywood then remade Red Dragon but it wasn't the same as the book

Also love James Herbert

Jack Kerouac - On The Road, I've read it five times at least during the last 20 odd years and it always surprises me, although that may be more to do with the fact that I have a rubbish memory

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë and Candide by Voltaire for the comedy value.

The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul - Douglas Adams

It's predecessor, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, was good, but this was just pure genius

I'll add another vote for the greatest fantasy story ever written (IMHO)

but my all time favourite is "to kill a mockingbird", what a great story.

Hell, I WAS going to say the Karma Sutra. (I actually DID have a copy at one time).

Have you ever noticed how many failed megalomaniacs should have read that book?
