Been doing Legendary on co-op with 4 of us - 30 mins a level tops...

do you think the fact that i have never ever played halo before, is harming my chances of sucess in "heroic" mode?

read a few things on the net from people who say its hard in single player, easy on co-op??

others say "if you have never played halo before pick normal"
i have not played it before but have played enough FPS games in my time

wondering if my lack of halo understanding is causing me problems

I can't get into it. Played it for about 1 hour, then had to go back to CoD4 beta. It's great fun. Just a pity it's about to end.

Naa - dont worry about it, hardly played any Halo before myself but having no trouble with Heroic.

Really enjoying the MP now, never been a fan of run & gun tactics before but something has just seemed to click on this game...

Anybody got the Famine skull from The Ark level yet, i can see it, just slightly out of reach,

Also i activated all the terminals but only started from half way thru the game, and yes i played all the relevant levels from start to finish including cortana which didnt have any terminals but i did it anyway as it was inbetween the last 2. Do you need to play the game from scratch to get the achievement ?

Edge scroes aren't. They are team based (especially for 10's)

An Edge 10 is an extremely pretigious award.

And probably deserved for Halo 3.

Not sure, i tried using the brute shot to explode it off the bridge ledge but it didnt budge, sniper will be more precise. I ended up having to drive 2 ghost riders up to the bridge and parking them on top of each other giving me enough height, then it was basically a tombraider style jump at the right time to make it and when you land on the ledge not to panic and fall off

Do you have to add skulls to your inventory or something, he just holds it in his hand like a cabbage and drops it when you switch back to weapons?

Also if you play co-op can you grab a skull, drop it and your team mates pick it up thus giving everyone the achievements?

All you have to do is pick it up to count.

we were doing 4 player co-op on legendary and didnt know this so one of us was redundant thinking that he had to carry it to the end of the level to count.

Most skulls are pretty useless (the silver ones at least) all they do is unlock something you'd rather not have like a sheild that doesnt regenerate, no radar, no HUD, enemies with twice the armour etc...but at least you have to deliberately activate the effect in settings, but you need to collect them if going for the 15k points per level meta-game acheivements.

As for the jumping - there's a technique of grenade jumping but I keep failing miserably, something along the lines of throw a grenade at your feet, jump and the explosion sends you further into the without killing you.

Never thought of that, i used to rocket jump a lot on Unreal Tourney.

ok i knocked it down to normal mode and just breezed past like it was the easiest game in the world i also noticed that this time i seamed to have a load of soldiers with me helping out? is this a feature of the lower difficulty setting?

once i got into it i quite liked it to be honest, no idea about any skull things

i find that i feel its not quite clear where i have to walk to when prompted, gears would always have the team standing by a door or such waiting for you, looking down a tunnel or what not telling you were to go, i found in H3they would just run off while i was looking about and i had to go and find them, and then find out which bit of the screen i was supposed to stand in so the next part would start.

feels a bit unfinished IMO

Played a few hours online lastnight, it's actually a lot better than expected, they've improved the speed and flow since the beta. It plays a lot like Unreal Tournament

Also played the first level on Campaign Meta scoring, managed to bag approx 4000 points , any ideas how much the skulls affect scoring ?

think the gold skull counts as a 4x multiplyer, time also counts as a multiplyer if you can do the level in under 30 mins.

I reckon you could do floodgate in less than 10... I basically ran through it shooting & meleeing - if you can make it to the next checkpoint you're usually OK as if you get killed the previous sections become more or less clear as the Elite will take care of it for you. Hardest bit was getting the skull.

Was that the shoot the guy off the roof skull ?

I did the opening level in 9 mins but with no skulls enabled. I adopted the hit and run policy on the Cortana level when playing it the second time to get the skull, couldnt be bothered to keep killing all the flood guys.

Yep, hit the bloke on the roof, first time I shot him though he threw the skull backwards...

Same tactic I used on Cortana, although went took a wrong turn at one point and ran back to the start Took a few attempts to get the skull on that one.

Seems like most skulls are well hidden, doubt anyone would get them all without a guide...

Anyone know what EXP the Spartan Officer rank is unlocked at?

Not sure of the accurancy but it seems ok

When you first start out, you are Enlisted. This means that your Skill level is irrelevant. When you get to 70 EXP and you are a level 10 in Skill on a Ranked list, you will become an Officer, specifically a Lieutenant. This means that you have the combined amount of experience and skill to be in this higher category. And you get the "Spartan Officer" Achievement as well. Not too Shabby.

Ooof! a way to go then! Hoping to get the second acheivement tonight, current EXP is 19 and I'm sure it unlocks at 20, didn't realise it was linked to tru-skill as well though - although did mamange to get to 6 in Team Slayer.

If you goto Bungie.net and goto 'My Stats',then find a player put in your tag it comes up with everything you've done and achieved in the game so far.

You can also do this ingame, hitting the dash button on the controller and browsing your friends list shows 3 addition links for halo 3 stats for your friends.

I was doing ok until I entered the ranked matches, thats when my stats fell

I think EXP is dependant upon doing all match types and over ranked, player & custom games.

You might have noticed that if you play a lot of Team Slayer you'll rank up, in my case I went up to a 5 and then thought I'd try a solo Slayer game and my skill level reverted back to 1. Only takes a game or 2 to rank up so by playing each game type you'll rank up quicker than if you tried to stick to 1 gametype - I think they've done it this way to combat the rank *****'s.

Not sure on how it works but reading that site it would appear the exp is calculated the same regardless of the type of game, as for tru-skill ranking i would imagine it takes in to account all types of game you play and works something from that.

EXP points are

1 point for finishing top
0 points for middle, bottom
-1 points for quitting mid-game.

I'm assuming finishing top means for a 4 player game finish 1st, 6-8player finish 1,2, 12 player finish 1,2,3 16 player finished top 4, only guessing tho.

Might not be too far off - on my second game I was a 1 then went into a 12 player game and finished 3rd, got back to the lobby and bypassed being a 2 altogether, went straight to a 3.

Lad on my friends list is a complete Halo killing machine - within 24 hrs of having the game he was a 19...

Just been checking his achievements - very first one he got was MVP...

Disappointed with Halo 3.

I like to watch Sci-fi films from time to time but not enjoying playing Halo 3 at all.

I am a massive fps player, always on COD 2 online and completed COD 3 which wasn't that good compared to 2.

Signed up to Beta test COD 4 and that was amazing.

That will be the daddy when that comes out.

Anybody into online COD 2 or 3 my gamertag is BOURNE 1978

I don't know how you guys can play FPS on a gamepad..it still evades me.

However I have been trying to playi erfect dark zero and halo 3 a bit with my mate.

Halo 3 is pretty damn boring if you ask me.

Perfect dark is slightly more fun but they are still stupid on a gamepad.
