Weeks !! No idea, but 7 1/2 months lol
Guess who had the pleasure of washing him when we got home.

He has certainly grown, just starting to fill out now, again at an alarming rate!
Nice pic there too, lovely colouring

Easier said than done, holding the lead, keeping him under control in a woods with other dogs off the lead, AND taking the pictures aint easy lol.

Next time will be footage

just reading this online

Dark eyes are preferred. Blue Eyes are a Disqualifying Fault.
are the blue eye versions "bad" or just "rare" ?
assume fault means it would not win any shows?

Its simple, Malamutes DONT have blue eyes, its not in the breed. Huskamutes do, because they are crossed Mals and Huskies because people want blue eyed mals. Mals have brown eyes, huskies CAN have blue, but not always.

They can also be prone to going blind too. But thats unproven so to speak.

Just a quick one, thought I would keep it to this thread so not to bore people to tears....

But if there are any Malamute or even just dog lovers, living within reach of Richmond Park, April 20th might be an interesting day to go there. I am arranging a meet of Mal owners at the mo.
Currently there are about 14-15 families coming, and somewhere in the region of 20+ malamutes and huskys planning to be there, with numbers growing.
So if you wanna hug a malamute, or see an amazing site, or even meet me lol......

wow, he's growing into paws well.

so, it must be about now that the thought of a companion has crossed your mind? two's twice the fun!!

heres my new boy, 4months old, .

20th sounds like a good day out and as its on my birthday I may be able to ask to go as my present! I know they are not mals, husky's but they are spitz, so would they be allowed?

Gorgeous dogs there mate
Of course you are welcome on the 20th. Only thing I have said to people is make sure you can control your dogs
Richmond not only has lots of deer, but a large pack of dogs together could be a recipe for disaster lol.

So far there are 23 dogs there, yours make 25 Let me know if you can make it for sure.

As for the thought of a companion. Yeah very much so, but things are a little too unstable at home to disrupt things right now. Which is sad. Would not mind getting another pup about the same time of year we got Tuvaaq. Who knows eh

Dogs always on a lead of some description, so no problem there.

Would my posting this on the Akita websites i frequent be a problem? obviously all responsible owners but would not want to mention it without your consent.

They arrange alot of walks in and around that area anyway but, they have always been too far from East sussex for us to think about attending, so maybe a good chance for me to put a few faces to names.

excellent, thats what I like to hear mate.
In reality its a big park, so plenty of room. We all usually space out anyway, so I reckon the Akita's coming would be more than fine Im sure everyone will respect everyone elses space. Especially for any problematic pairings lol.

Let me know if anyone is coming along, and I will keep the Mal guys up to date
If you need more info on where etc, let me know

As many details as you have would be great, then I will post it up and let you know the response. Feel free to pm or maybe start a new thread and I will (hopefully) link to it.

Have you thought of taking any token donations for the walk, from what I have read on other arranged walks, a donation of a £1 or 2 is suggested and the total amount donated to the rescues. Obviously as there may be a few different breeds there, the donation could be to an all round rescue as opposed to breed specific?

How do you get on with the retractable lead? being as strong as they are how do they hold up? was tempted to go for the flat lead type as oposed to the wirey one for the added strength, whats your thoughts?

Also, lovely to see him splashing about in the water, lots of them are not that keen, heres one of mine in the pool.

It works fine mate, largest one they make. The lead is strong as hell. Dont tend to use it if he is going to encounter other dogs etc, but great for open spaces where pulling is not as bad (for a sled dog lol)
When he is constantly pulling it does not get let right out, reducing the chance of it coming away.

We have I think 7 leads last count, just ordered a new one too lol.
Different walks, different leads

He was almost swimming in the pools at keston last week, dirty sod! Cant wait to get him a pool for the back garden

What pool is that he is in ?

Oh forgot too, a nice blue background shot to show his colours too. Could not resist this one.

Pool is the local hydrotherapy one, absolutely brilliant thing especially when the jets are on

Have lots of leads here too try to swap them about a bit, keeps the dogs thinking, have been contemplating the halti harness as I have heard some good reports from other akita owners.
