Top Speed

Makes sense you were curious, I was too before I got my first WRX, and I couldn't really find the info, so just had to try out myself
I live quite close to Germany and I did/do travel very often there, so been doing thousands of miles in both my scoobys at very high speed, and I have never had any problems, nor the car rattled itself apart, nor the brakes faded.
In my sti, at around 6.5k rpm speedo shows around 255kph, while gps indicates that actually it is 9 kph less.

Second the not being built to top speed, that bonnet vent and other poor rear end design (esp on classics) have a rather poor coefficient of drag and frontal area add up a car with a remarkably poor top speed for the power output.
Take an example - A MY99 turbo 2000 with 215hp makes a top speed of about 145mph, the Calibra turbo with less power went on to about 155mph, but then I know which car I'd rather have.
From what was on Top Gear once or 5th gear (on or the other) the P1, with its front splitter and higher rear spoiler reduced the power required to attain 100mph by 3hp, not much, but did clearly improve aerodynamics slightly. But yeh, not great in the aerodynamics department, anyone that has any good tips to improve them I'd be interested to hear...

At the 30-130 day I had a reading of 164mph GPS at 7500rpm (self imposed rev limit) on a Spec c 04 box with the P1 160mph speedo reading straight down (or where about 180 mph would be indicated if the P1 speedo went that far) and that was just about when I saw a flicker in the corner of my eye which was the roof gutter detaching itself and flying off...

on a german autobahn earlier this year got my 05 ppp'd wrx upto indicated 145 gps confirmed this to be 141 was still only revving at around 5600 rpm and max power in mine is produced at 6500 rpm according to the rolling road so still had a bit to go probably would have got 155 ish true speed,, thank god for unrestricted german autobahn's
