The point about NRK is that they own lots of mortgages. Those mortgages will not be paid off by Christmas. Large amounts of them will be tied in products with a few years to run before people will/could jump ship.
Those loans are very valuable, especially if they were to be purchased at a discount by another company. I just cannot see NRK collapsing, being taken over yes, but I don't see a collapse. Mind you, do you really want to risk your money on what I think

no they wont - most will re-new with NR because switching is a hassle, complicated and in many cases impossible (esp if they got a high income multiple from NR in the first place)

And I suspect their customer savings portfolio will gradually diminish which will mean they have to use more short term loans to fund mortgage business expansion and I doubt if they are flavour of the month in the city.
I'd put my money on a takeover with the new owners burying the name and merging into their existing business.
But I have to say that I know sod all about these things - about as much perhaps as the SN resident £1000 per day IFAs who were saying that the shares would just pop up again and what a great buy and what did us mere mortals know dl

Hence the fall from 180 to 130 in the last 2 days as the take over bids have dried up.

Sticking your life savings on NRK would be a gamble. Investing a small amount to add to your basket would, in my opinion, be taking a considered risk. The risk is even more viable if one's re-investing a sharply realised return, as the initial capital is secure.
Anyway, I'm off to the bookies.

NR shares are up 13% already today, this is on top of 11% or so rise yesterday.
They do look extremely cheap despite the recent troubles. Wouldn't be surprised to see them climb quite a bit higher. The NR name may have been tarnished, but it always amazes me how quickly the public forget things.

My sentiments also, bought £500 worth, not a great deal but "If" they see anything like the return before the crash I will be quids in. If not, no big deal.

Been going up for the last few days - anyone would bought at 150p will probably more than trebble their money IMO

Indeed, a few people will make a LOT of money today!
I bought a few but still need them to go up a bit more before I can break out the champagne (ok Asti) and blow my earnings on a pizza..

Hey Pete - welcome back...
I bought 4k at £3.05, should have waited really, and last week was going to sell my shares, glad I didnt. Looking like I may get my money back. Dipped in today for 2k at £2.35 and sold at £2.52.....
My other half is a money trader, even she said I was a prat and in for a rocky ride......

Well I accept I haven't got a clue.
Still miffed thinking they would not have survived without the B of E and the Government, obviously petrified someone would see this economy for what it is.
Good luck to those who might make something.I still hope citibank pull out and the vultures get them.
