I didn't go 'ooooooooooh big tv.........'
I got it BRAND NEW for £2000, instead of £4000 including the stand so I made it fit in to the room. I bought it as something for my future place where hopefully I will have a living room worthy of it. Besides, with image quality that blows away plasma and LCD, it was a no-brainer.
I can't stand having the side speakers on it and just removing them makes it look far less domineering, but the housemate/landlord refused to listen to the telly solely through the amp.

it is a pain when you rent, we are the same so cant build the "uber wall" to build the tv into, i have allready had the green light to go ahead and build a proper "tv room" when we finally jump onto the housing market, but i do like my little system i have now, when you consider its my first ever "pad"
samsung 42 plasma
samsung dolby/dts 5.1 sound
xbox 360 upscaling all the dvds to 720p via the vga lead
![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
not specific "home cinema" photos, i was just messing with my new camera and trying to capture some "effects" lol

Theyll only take it if you let them in, or let them see it. After theyve seen in, either through a door/window or because youve allowed them in, and theyve taken 'walking possession' they can force their way in to collect it.

The price of the popcorn alone outweighs the cost of a decent HC system, let alone the tranquility of not having ch@vs sat behind you, queues, 1/2 hour of adverts, car park dents, being able to pause whilst you go for a pee, and usually a better picture and sound than most multiplexes.

have to say, i hate "clutter" the one thing i did not want, was loads of random boxes underneath the TV, they never match and always look out of place IMO
so i looked for a surround system that did not come with a dvd player etc etc
basically, the only thing under the tv is the xbox and the center channel speaker, as the chap posted above, the xbox is linked to the pc in another room so can stream media if needed.
tried hiding the center channel speaker behind the tv, but it was affecting the sound toooo much

well following up from my previous post months ago on this thread, finally gotten around to finishing mine. Lucky enough to have a second living room in our house, (was an integral double garage, but previous owner turned it into a second room and had new garage built at front of house) so it obviously became the prime cinema location. Had a builder put in new door, sparky rip out some electrics and put new in, and windows came out to fit sofas in.
Started off like this
![](http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c63/neiltneilt/start.jpg)
Then came Mission floor standers, Sony Amp and Sony projector and Xbox 360.
Recently added new Yamaha amp, electric RC screen, Mission rears, Mission Sub, IR lighting, a Sky + box, Wii and a PS3 for Blu Ray. Next on the list is a new projector to replace the slightly aging Sony one (although it doing pretty well for 5 yrs old)
![](http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c63/neiltneilt/DSC05817.jpg)
![](http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c63/neiltneilt/DSC05812.jpg)
![](http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c63/neiltneilt/DSC05821.jpg)
![](http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c63/neiltneilt/DSC05822.jpg)
Control of screen, lighting and system all done via a Pronto Pro - configured it on my pc then uploaded to handset - great bit of kit. System is all X10 wired so one button on wall turns it all off / on
![](http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c63/neiltneilt/DSC05818.jpg)
Use it mainly for films / Wii / PS3. Tend to still watch everyday TV on the 32"er in the lounge.

When we complained they said they would not turn it down because the children liked it that loud!

Even when i have left them closed and had it wound up i have never had a problem though, although it does get hot. The Amp has an 'alarm' if it gets to hot and this has never kicked in yet.
I have a magic eye that sits on top of the centre speaker so i can operate the TV normally with the doors closed, although if i am using the amp / DVD remote i have to have the relavent door open.

If i am watching a DVD or listening to music loud then i have the doors open, but normal TV watching i leave them closed.
Even when i have left them closed and had it wound up i have never had a problem though, although it does get hot. The Amp has an 'alarm' if it gets to hot and this has never kicked in yet.

It can't be open fronted because I have small children.
Any ideas? I can't seem to find something that hits the spot.

Why not,
Ive had two small ones,
"Do not touch" & "Thats daddy's" were enough to reinforce what they
were not to touch.
Mart
ps, they only ever feed toast into the VCR or DVD player once,
there favourite soft toy being fed to the waste disposal works wonders![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
