In a decent kennel with some form of heating or at least decent wind shelter (for the really cold nights) won't be a problem at all. All my GSD's over the years have much preferred to be outside 24 hours a day.
I gave them free reign to roam the grounds and go in their kennel block when they like. It is a block built 20ft x 6ft kennel, with divided bed sections for even more protection, with heating, lighting etc.
The two I have now are indoors more but still love to be outdoors most of the day when they're not with me in the motor.

If I didnt feel that we could keep it at a reasonable temp for the day/evening, naturally we would bring him in, but the plan is to sort all that before the cold weather really moves in.
Its nice to see another person supporting keeping them outside, its only natural after all
Would be interested in seeing a pic of the housing arrangements (kennels) if you have one your happy to share
Open to new ideas and all

Sorry to hear that Pimmo, but your doing the right thing.
Tuvaaq had a bout of the farts again last night.... Again after my sister had been round, and I had been out. So im convinced she has given him something.
Families can really annoy the hell out of you at times eh. Especially when they dont even live there!
Well Pimmo, let us know how you get on at the vets. Main thing is she is on form just not very solid, so hopefully it is just a diet thing

Any ideas what your gonna change the diet to yet ?

My dog gets a mixture of dried complete food and dog meat, she has a raw egg every second morning, if she has anything like steak or chicken she has severe skitters, I think she's just not used to it as she was brought up on a farm.

Vet said its the diet.. the Raw chicken is not good for a dog.
Shes been given an injection and tablets to take. Also some sensitive puppy food for a week, then she goes back the vet.
Vet said she is good weight very bright eyed and generally a happy looking dog.
She said shes seens an increase in "in the know" breeders giving their dogs the Raw meat and its a bad thing !
Either way I tried the raw meat.. didnt do the dog any good. Now I'm moving over to the Vet opinion.

As long as the dog is ok, good. I am just saying, when it comes to dogs, especially GSD. I would take everything Spoon says, as word. If you have seen his dogs, you will know what I mean.
...... the bacteria that's in raw chicken.....

Seriously, for an animal to be able to eat raw meat its parents MUST have also been feed raw meat, and so on... as they must have built up their immune system to resist the bacteria associated with it (and passed this to the pup).
You'll find that a dry food will sort him out, and probably a few antibiotics... and once he's stabilised slowly introduce him back to cooked/boiled and dry foods
Avoid anything with brittle bones, such as lamb, as these splinter and lodge in the throat and bowels.. become infected and require major surgery to remove.

Pimmo I am another to recommend Arden Grange, hardened my pups stools (were slightly sloppy on vet recommended stuff) Good thing is its all natural as well with no artifical stuff

lol im just working on the house training thing now. 9 weeks old. Still having accidents, but a lot better.
Stubborn little sod though. Annoying when they are in the garden for an hour, come inside.... and dump lol

lol Tuvaaq is going through the same, following his recent accidents I have stopped the treats until the opportunity is right to show its clearly a reward... He still comes diving in the house and sits by his crate waiting for a treat..... bless

Hehe he dont seem too afraid of much at the moment, although bravery can be troublesome as he was trying to catch a wasp in his mouth yesterday.
Can always tell when he has found something he wants to try and eat as he darts in the house.
His technique for getting snails out of their shells is something to be witnessed though

Its annoying me now people telling me what to do about the dog, everyone knows best. My dad has had 9 German Shephards over the years and they all lived past 13 ! Which is very old for such a big dog !
I am very grateful for advice.. Spoons especially.. but if you dont like me not taking your advice.. dont give it... at the end of the day I will decided what I think is best for the dog based on her.

Has it never occured to you, we might just want the best for the puppy. Spoon has the best knowledge of anyone I know, about GSD. I would trust anything he said, above any vet or breeder.
