NACRO thanks for your constructive comments.

I haven't seen this version yet, cant watch it at work. It should have said something along the lines of 'Helmets are ALWAYS recommended but not mandatory'' That needs changing

It wasn't supposed to be an all encompasing video hence the lack on info on the local roads

If You take the first bend at a comfortable fast pace, you soon find being on the wrong side of the road and carring to much speed to make the left hander.

wish I'd seen it 4 years ago I went off there on my first lap, I overtook a biker just prior to corner, went in a bit faster than I would have loss concentration and took a wider line, then over the grass

I have it on mpeg video file if you want to edit into as "how not to do it"

If you are insured with Keith Micheals, give them a call, they do a very good deal for RING insurance. ADAC will cover you for car recovery on the RING, but hopefully you won't need it, if you let the brains take over your emotions.

Prep the car well, as someone rightly said, if your tyres are road legal i won't change them before the the laps, I'll save the bill for afterwards, good quality oil, brake pads and a good servicing at the least, above all, learn the track and don't have an ego about not letting smaller engined cars pass you.

How you drive on the RING is your call, you'll see a bus on an excursion tour as well as tiny Punto driven by a local overtaking your high powered car.

Learn the track and you'll be the 'Shihan'.

Last week I had the opportunity of being a passenger in a S type Jag diesel, driven by Roger, 'The Admiral', with a sub 10 minute lap. Nuff said.

Have fun.

Don't worry Tony, I did exactly the same thing at AF on my first visit, catches almost everyone out on their first visit.

Worth a trip over but treat it like a fast road drive not a racetrack and remember there will always be quicker drivers let alone quicker cars. The journey over is half the fun and I personally prefer to drive it as it helps build the excitement each and every trip. The return trip is boring.

4 hours from Calais if you are lucky but nearer 4 1/2 in my experience.

Petrol tends to be one of the biggest expenses over there and budget for using lots if you are lapping. Mine does about 4-5 laps per tank.

Great video Gary and Al

Gutmann Pug, another thing to mention in your video (might have been there, apologies if I missed it!).
Check your fuel level before each lap, I almost ran out after 4 laps during which time i'd used almost a full tank of fuel. You do go through it rather fast, especially if you're in a turbo'd car and on boost for a large percentage of the lap.
Could be an embarrasing and expensive mistake to make and running out in some of the faster sections could be hazardous

This is the point that I was going to make. PGR and GT4 is an amusing aside; there isnt a reset button.....
