I was seeing a 22 year old recently and I'm 39. 
She did have a bit of a struggle to keep up, but it was all good.
Personally, I think the age is less important than the guys background/intentions etc.

Ladies are much more mature than us (sorry guys but you know it's true) this is why you often see a 10 - 15 year gap, because a 21yr old guy is still acting like he is 10 and these girls are looking for someone a little more sofisticated

I'm 31 and my girlfriend is 21. Her 3 brothers were a bit protective at first but once they got over the "dirty old man" mentality everything was fine.
