The 03 onwards WRX seems to have a tougher box than the earlier cars, I see very few failures. Having said that, a similar spec 06WRX up here has just blown 3rd gear, running 350bhp 400 torque although it does get used regularly on track, doing somewhere around a hundred laps per trackday. Not sure how long it would take to stack up that level of wear/fatigue in normal fast road use.

I'd like to add that im not shy with the loud peddle, i have done a third/forth rebuild useing OE parts following a failiure, but could have been down to a weakness caused by a previous insident (accelerating in 4th went for 5th but got 3rd), when it did go pop it was coming hard out of a round-a-bout in 3rd and i fluffed a gear change, its in the back of my mind that it might go again but wont let that stop me having fun, i'll put a post up if it does go again.

Did think about getting a ppg straight cut gear set 1st-4th standard 5th for iro £2300+vat, but like i said was'nt sure if it was down to a gear change fiick up by me, and the 3rd/4th rebuild cost about £270 all in.

In the colder weather a road mapped car may overshoot the boost a little on the rollers and in the summer it may not quite achieve target boost (on the rollers) on the road however it should feel virtually the same summer/winter due to the compensations built into the ECU.
That torque increase you have seen in your 2 runs would be the difference of about 0.3 bar of midrange boost.

Happy for the time being, dont drive it much so not getting board with that level of power, my daily driver is a 1.2 fiat brava so quite a difference, next mod would be forged pistons and bigger injectors

Just out of interest, the induction kit you have got, is it noisy? If I fitted one, would I need a remap with it? And without a re-map do you know if it would cause any running problems?

I know the older jdm's benefit from a remap after an induction kit but not a uk new age, thoght it was hevier mods like de-cating ect i put a full system with a sport cat and the induction kit on mine without a remap, just needed to fit a check light eliminator, did have ocasional overboost tho.

think its more to do with long term use with out a re map... what make did you go for and did you set up a cold air feed .... i think i will lose the front fogs and go with a feed from the left and a fog cover for the right T25 style

As far as I've read, scooby401 has a zero sports kit with the cold air feed etc.
Thin it may be worth getting a group buy set up here. He's kind-off set the ball rolling with the mods he's got! lol

If you go on the WALES section and look at the thread "some pics from powerstation" some where you'll see my car on the RR and ive done that intake job, also modded the original intake, the kit is a zero sport filter with additional zero sports pipe work.

Scooby 401 had a bit of a trial and error procedure at the beggining with the exhaust system (to decat or not to decat ), but he got there in the end. The best bit of advice he got though, was a pointer in the Andy Forrest direction and the introduction of the Andy Forrest TD05-20G, which its fair to say has proved its worth many times over.
