I test drove a 260 with a decat exhaust fitted - and I thought it was pants, even compared to my old Blob WRX PPP. Just did'nt float my boat. However, my TME felt very different, a lot more hardcore to drive, superb handling, and awesome breaks. If I had a choice between a 260 and your STI PPP, I know what I would pick.

I've had both and can honestly say that out of the 2 cars I'd take the scooby everyday...well for my purposes it suits much better.
My experiences of Mitsu's are that they need really, really regular servicing to stand the sort of punishment that most rice rocket drivers like to dish out. Combine the silly service schedule with the worst interior this side of a Lada Riva and you're left with a car that's only good to be used as a weekend back road blaster or track day toy...and trust me there are better cars around that suit that purpose (like my Exige S!!!).
In a nutshell it depends on how deep your pockets are and whether or not the car's going to be a daily driver. The scooby can go longer between oil changes, is tougher and slightly better screwed together and can do the odd long journey/sit in traffic thing without giving you a nose bleed.
Just my pennies worht after having owned both Mitus Evo 5 and 8 and both Scooby '03 WRX and '05 JDM Sti.
