Just had a look round for ferry prices, as we've moved the date back. Price for Dover to Dunkirk is £63.00 return per car via Norfolk Line. Price does'nt go up if you have passengers
Leave 23rd May 20:00, 22:00 or 23:59
Return 30th May 12:01, 14:01, 16:01, 18:01 or 20.00
Dates and times are just to give people an idea of whats available

we could do with one going out about 3 in the morn ,,then we would be driving through the day
and we will miss all the traffic down there,,,coz if we set off at 6 we will hit it all,,and most people are working the friday
just my thoughts

We're probably going to catch some rush hour stuff either here or on the continent... so I'd agree traveling mostly overnight and getting the Ferry at 3am or before...
I'd rather hit the jams on the Continent side than around the M25!!
There appears to be a Ferry at 2am... That would mean setting off here at 9pm ish...that should mean fairly light traffic when we hit the 25 at 11ish...
2 Hour ferry and set off from Dunkerque at 4:15am... we'd be half way there by about 9am as Metz is about 4 Hrs from Dunkerque... That's if we go through Holland, Belgium and down to Luxembourg rather than through France...
From Metz to the rough Area around Davos (not sure where the first base is) would be a further 5 Hrs. Stops for food and petrol would see us there by 4 ish... Google seems to think this is the faster route at 8 Hrs 50. Total of 589 Miles 2ish tanks...
4pm Means time for a quick stretch.. few beers and a good nights sleep before hitting the Sunday!!!

I think a route revision is called for...
Agree with the 9pm departure from here, but had planned on driving (steadily) through northern France to a hotel just on the French side of the border for the first night.
We'll discuss this in more detail on Sunday

Ooh, oooh, ooooohhhh!
Anyone got this month's Evo mag?
P144 there's a test of some Porshcehchesc POS, but (much more interestingly) it also features details of a 17.3km hillclimb route in the Dolomites.
Now...
Someone mentioned perhaps having a day off from the driving and getting a few beers in at some point. How about just having half a day's driving, on either Weds or Thurs, driving down to this, running the course (public roads ) once or twice, and back in time for lunch (or an early tea!)
Looks WELL worth it. I'll bring the mag with me on Sunday.
Time for bed... up at 5 and all this Glaswegian air and long hours (plus the Becks beer) is knackering
clicky to see if you think it's worth it!

...and just in case you're still not moved / persuaded / convinced...
TG Stelvio
If this don't move you, sell the Scoob and go buy a Fiat Panda
(That was as much for me as anyone else, 'cos when it was originally on I spent the whole progam shouting 'Stelvio' at the telly, then went and talked all the way through the good bit )
Can't wait!!!
Roads, mountains, Scoobies and mates = perfection

Based on the worse case, it'd cost £58.00 for each car . . . with this in mind, can everyone leave a £60 deposit on Sunday?

rough guide for the hotels is around 60 euros / night, as nothing definite has been sorted with these yet it could go a little either way. I'll be bringing more details on Sunday

As long as we can get the ferry payments, and get that booked, we can look at sorting the hotel bookings in a week or two, this should still ensure that we get the first choice of places, as it's pretty low-season in the Alps around that time of year.
We could do with someone fluent in Froglish

Meeting held.
It's been decided that we'll take the 2am ferries both outbound and inbound, at a total cost of £38, plus any possible booking fees.
Deposits of £40 have been paid by Al, Simon, Stu and myself to secure our places on the ferries, but they won't be booked until Friday 30th November, along with hotel bookings.
We will be having another Sunday afternoon meet in 2 weeks (Sunday 18th November) at the TP (Whitwood Inn) to take deposits for the hotels, and the total amount required will be announced before the end of this week.
The absolute final cut-off date for ALL deposits to be paid is this month's EOM meet, Thursday 29th November.
Anyone who has not paid by then will miss out on the initial block bookings, and may as a consequence end up on a different ferry or in different hotels, should they decide at a later date that they want to come.
In summary...
This week - Hotel prices announced
Sunday 18th - Meeting at the TP to discuss hotel bookings and take deposits
Thursday 29th - EOM meeting. Final cut-off point for ALL deposits to be paid
Friday 30th - Ferry and hotels being booked
The full itinerary of the trip itself is to be confirmed, but we would be looking to set off from Wakefield at around 7pm on Friday 23rd May, in order to get to Dover in good time for the 2am crossing. We can then have a steady drive down through France, taking plenty of time out for breaks, arriving at the first hotel for around 4pm Saturday
The return crossing would be on the following Saturday, again at 2am, which would mean getting home sometime around midday... ish
Clear as mud

Sticky showed us the Day 1 & 2 itineraries and I can say I'm like a little kid at Christmas.. The roads just to get to Stelvio On The Third Day look immense...(nice title for an album that )
His organisation of just those two days has covered everything... Fuel cost in MPG, mileage, route, hotel at start and finish and total time.. taking in some scenic shots..... Thanks mate.. awesome stuff.
If the hotel costs look as cheap on the first day (as the Ferry is a £100 cheaper than first thought), then you can probably knock a few hundred quid off the initial total costs...
Is it May yet?

hi mate,,i could meet you some where this week if you want,,and get the deposit off you ,,then give it to si on saturday at the trackday
dont know what the hotel costs are going to be yet ,,but the ferry is £40 ,,so if you work it on £30 per night for the hotel x 6 nights ,,its going to be £180 + £40 forferry = £220
let me know if your ok with this...or if some one else is closer to you may be they could meet up
