As a light aircraft pilot, I can report that the art of enjoying the misfortunes of others is most certainly still alive and kicking.
A popular pastime amongst your weekend aviator is to spend an hour or two, just sitting and criticising. We'd congregate in the cafe forecourt, facing the runway, a cross between the "Britain's got Talent" panel and those wisened old women who used to knit while the French removed heads with Madam Gilloutine. Every missed approach and untidy go around would get "oohs and ahhs" and a big ballooned landing followed by bouncing all over the runway would get peals of laughter.
The point of telling you that one is to note that it's only PILOTS who can offer a considered opinion. Anybody who hasn't raced at Combe has no idea what's going on, and can't really pass comment.
I have raced there many times, and I'm not going to comment, other than to use the old pilot's saying. "Any landing you can walk away from is a good one"

I'm not a professional driver, not even close, but I think the footage fits perfectly with Simon's account and would go so far as to praise him for having the presence of mind to realise the brakes weren't going to work again and the only way out was to pitch the car sideways across the grass in an attempt to avoid plowing headlong into another competitor or the wall at a far greater speed. These kind of things happen very quickly when you're behind the wheel (you barely have time to think "oh f*ck!") and it's easy to sit behind a stationary keyboard and criticise. Since I'm not a professional racer/instructor, I'm going to reserve comment on his driving generally, as I'm not appropriately qualified.

Referring to Combe, Tower is one of the last few challenges of its type left, with nowhere to go if anything fails. Prior to the installation of the chicane at Old Paddock, it used to be approached at virtually unabated speed. The old Woodcote (Silverstone) and Knicker Brook (Oulton) were equally scary!

the blokes done very well for himself gets to do a dream job and has some very cool toys, but theres no need for gelousy!
you couldnt even reverse that car off your pot holed drives lol!

Just my few cents worth,
I would like to see any poster on here drive any scooby/evo with that much BHP at those speeds on any track.
Simon Norris as was posted earlier, has got his dream job/past time.
I have watched the video numerous times, and i can say, that Brake failure was imo the reason for the crash.
Yes i heard the brakes clunk 3 times before he tried to slow down across the grass. again imo that was the wrong choice. Rather blow gearbox, and hand brake then travel across any grass at any speed let alone 110 mph
It was a racing incident simple as that.
