I am sorry but after having an RTA today I actually discovered why we wear seat belts, they save your life!!!!
I had a head on collision with a car, luckily I was only doing about 30mph and they were probably going slower as they were approaching a junction but my car is a write off & I walked away with a few aches and pains, from the seatbelt and the bump from hitting my head on the steering wheel {type ra no airbag}
If that is not a lesson then nothing ever will be.
I am sure the paramedices wouldnt want to be scraping you up from the road, a couple of seconds will save your life.

I must say, that one of the most incongruous sights I have seen was when I saw a motorcycle cop pulling someone for not wearing a seatbelt.
I would like to think he showed the discretion to give the motorist a warning only.

I also would be concerned about tampering with the wiring on a asfety feature - it could be connected to something. There are times it becomes annoying - spectating at a big event, say a track day when you may be in and out the car, moving spots at low speed etc - probably most don't bother about a seat belt then. Other than this scenario, I always wear mine - simple physics - I do not want me or my friends, family to end up gravy.........

Why is every body having a go at this bloke. everyones going mad in the world. I never wear mine ever whether that be a pasenger in someone elses car or my own front or back. Have they really saved lives? No one really wore them til it became against the law. now everyones big on it. Same as kids now must have pads and a helmet to ride a bike. I dont even want airbags or abs or any of that protection stuff in my car. Its a shame i cant buy one with no protection at all in it. The rawness of driving has gone. The nanny state has made many of us a load of big girls that are scared to do anything incase we get hurt. If we were all going to die from this stuff none of us older ones would be here.
Ive got an old mini here with no seat belts in it. Are you all saying i shouldnt drive it until i have some fitted? Oh and it got a bit of cord on the inside of the door that is used for opening it and side protection.

Robby, the guy has a life, unlike you will have if you ever have a RTA.
FOR GODS SAKE BELT UP OR SHUT UP.
You better rip up your insurance policy while you're at it as well as you have just nulled and void it, but then again maybe you don't have insurance since your so hard or just plain thick. I reckon its the latter

I dont question it at all. They probably do save lives. What im saying is that everyone is scared by they read and are told. Had i have been a youngster now i wouldnt have been able to do half the things i did when i was a youngster.
In 1985 i was involved in a serious accident.Infact i was driving without a seat belt. I was thrown through the windsreen and landed on the road infact skided down the road on my ****. I had cuts, bruises 60 odd stitches in my wrist for which i still have the scars. My best friend who was wearing one and was a pasenger was cut from the wreckage and later died. Lets just say had i have been wearing a belt i wouldnt have been thrown clear and i also would have been crushed.
so will i learn? I doubt it

How does someone as stupid as you manage to wake up in a morning? Possibly one of the most stupid things ive read ... ever! You arent the OP's brother are you? Its a shame but i daresay it will take for you or one of your mates to be seriously injured or worst before you change your moronic views.
This is the thing here. If someones opinion is different. everyones on there high horse. Im not saying im right or everyone else is wrong. I have had personal experience of it. Ive formed an opinion through my own experiences in life i dont base my opinion on what ive read or what ive been told by others.

These figures come from USA where many people don't wear seatbelts.
What if in fact 70% of people there don't wear belts?
By my reckoning that would make people wearing belts more likey to suffer a fatal injury than those who don't - no doubt due to the more laissez faire attitude to safety taken by people who wear belts!

Robby, your inconsiderate, its not just you who will make an impression when you have a crash, all the people who have to wipe your brains up off the floor dont really want to see that either, your also breaking the law by not wearing a seatbelt, now if I were you I would learn to grow up and wear one like everyone else does, there is no preference here, its just peoples lives.

what sort of forum is this getting to be when i ask a simple question and all these people respond by slagging me off?
I'm not trying to look hard by not wearing a belt it's my preference after having a TRA several years ago when an artic took the side off the car i was driving as he sideswiped me when he was on the wrong side of the road.
I was wearing a belt and the tensioner tightened the belt and pinned me tight, the impact bent the door pillar and pushed it into my shoulder shattering it which left me with restricted movement and numerous scars.
Had i not been wearing a belt i would have been able to move sideways out of the way of the impact so things wouldn't have been so bad.
I know belts do save lives in certain collisions but not all
If people read threads when someone asks a question why do they feel the need to judge the person posting? if you don't know the answer or don't want to help why not just ignore the post?

How nice do you think it would be to be stopped at a set of lights when some dozy tard behind slams into you at 40mph? A relatively minor accident if you're wearing belt .... no belt however and you're looking at damage to your hands and arms, if you're "lucky" your ribs you've just broken as you impacted the wheel dont puncture your lungs and you wont drown in your own blood. Stop being a muppet and belt up! Your selfish attitude will have consequences!

A simple question that should have a simple answer.. The fact that he says no lectures make it fairly obvious that he knows were are not going to agree that its a good idea.
I hate the damn chime an all (in fleet cars i drive) I never have my belt done up when driving around site as there is an enforced (i mean loose your job) speed limit of 10 miles per hour! On the road i have a belt on 100% of the time.

cut robby some slack.... he's only asked a question, and asked for you all to lay off the lectures. if he doesnt wanna wear a seatbelt, then thats his choice, not yours... its each person to their own, i personally do wear a seatbelt and makesure anyone else in the car does... but i'm also re-assured that if i have a collision with someone who isnt wearing a belt, then its me who is going to hopefully survive..
to answer your quertion bout the chime, i'd go with the plug under your seat..

my one stops chiming after a while. And can everyone stop preeching, hes not asking you to stop wearing yours, and he was probably pretty aware of the risks before everyone on here started bleeting.
As a second point, he is more likely to not wear seatbelt by everyone calling him a ******** becuase he'll just think sod'em. If people would have said "you really should wear your seltbelt because" it might have had a more influential impact.
Just my $0.02

Robby is right, it really was a simple question If you don't want the lectures then DON'T POST questions that will result in illegal behaviour
While I'm on here can anyone tell me the best way to use a Subaru in a ram raid while I'm drunk and high on drugs.

and i suppose people who post about removing their cats from the exhausts are ok to ask about that even though it will make their cars illegal on the roads???????????????????????????????????????

a mate of my dads lost his life through wearing his seatbelt, i know this is hard to believe, but the car actually set on fire whilst the seat belt was jammed in position. He was a 21 year old trainee piolot in the RAF.
This was quite a few years ago, and technology has mooved on since, i carry a pair of scissors in door pocket just in case.
At the end of the day the lad in question will please himself no matter what anyone says.

i h8 wearing seat belts im a big guy and i find they cut in to my neck and there is no chance of me going through the windown screen unless im drivign a bus or somethign lolololol
the only reason i wear mine is becasue of the fine i got last week for not wearing it
i dont see what everyones problem is if you dontwanna wear one its up to you lots of people do worse things on the road lots of cars out there in a state that shouldnt be on the road.
i just think people should worry aoubt their own things rather than what someone else is doin
just a simple question that required a simple answer
