Well,i've read all the treads and this is what i've deducted from it so far. Most people on here are mature drivers who enjoy their car and its power in different ways. I think 90% of us agree that 'racing' is stupid on roads, that Ernie dude should be shot and the '911' is regarded as the faster car, whatever that means
There are so many variants of the 911 its not funny. Which one he came up against will never be truely known. Each car is different and such is their drivers. On the Top Gear lap times, there is such an array of diversity between the Scoobs and Porkers, one clear stronger car is hard to define, e.g. the 911GT3,911 Carrera S are quicker than a WR1 and STi but the two Scoobs are quicker than 911 turbo but which one? One would have to research the programme...Then comes the Evo FQ400 which blitz's the above and that in turn is out paced by the GT3 RS...Where does it end
I think it should end with tit ***** who come on here and start condoning road racing to be bared from intelligent conversations and to put their money where there mouth is on a drag strip or track,in a controlled environment.
I love my Scooby and own it for a reason,to enjoy and drive. Not to race on public roads. I obviously concede that there are better and quicker cars out there, fine,i'm happy with what i have for now.
This debate may never end cause of stupid people who won't shut up and realise that Scoobs aren't the be and end all of automotive performance, neither are Porkers. They are a legendary car for what they were bred for which is rallying.Lets respect that and concede that there is better...

Porsche drivers do not concern me. But then again it wasn't me saying i'd had a race with one blah blah blah.
As for my scooby being standard?? Hardly, its a Roll caged, rotated GT30R fed 2.5!
As for my driving and my car, well, put it this way you wouldn't get anywhere near if we ended up head to head on a suitably quiet piece of road.

I was behind a Porsche Carrera S earlier on the motorway. We both came off a slip road onto a dual carriageway so i thought i would go up his **** to see if he would put his foot down...
he did....
within a few seconds he was nowhere to be seen! Awesome power!
Even if i had tried to keep up with him i wouldnt have had a hope in hell!

I have followed a 996 turbo out of the services from about 30 mph to something *about* the speed limit. I was able to keep in touch, but he was no doubt pulling away and I am sure that if we were on a track it would have been much greater a margin.
Only a deluded scoob driver will think he can keep up with Stutgart's finest. I am sure a 997 would have been even better.
I would love one but then again, I am about £100K short. Mine you I havn't looked down the back of the sofa for a while.......

Elvington as stated watching, D1ccy (STI with mods) vs Carrera 4, no contest, and being polite to D1ccy he would be first to say that the Porsche was lacking in the driver department.
Wouldn't use his mirrors
Couldn't beat the understeer
Caused the understeer due to bad lines....
Spun on the same corner repeatedly.. Not learning anything then ?
But in a pure drag race about even....
Dunx
P.S. Racing on the road is for n*bs, but who hasn't ? Be honest....

That's highly commendable of you, we're only human tho', and when I was 17 I too thought I was indestructible.... Now I too enjoy pushing my car on circuit, as I like having a clean licence too much.

P.S. that was a very long time ago !!

i was out on the back of my m8 R1 yesterday and went after a 911 turbo, we had to keep lifting off the throttle, not by much but we reached 185mph (private track) and still had 6th to go, but at that speed the R1 and 911 were about equal and both would was still pulling, so no a wrx etc etc wouldnt touch the 911 turbo.

Yes i know that. Thats why i didnt even contemplate trying to keep up with him. I just wanted him to boot it so i could view the awesome acceleration with my own eyes
