40GB a month transfer for £9.99. It's £16.99 without with pop up ads but if you just reference a URL, I can't see that being a problem.
Not sure how your uploader script runs though (ie would they let you install it).
Alternatively, could you keep your existing uploader and just stick the files on another server (ie the 1and1 site).

Branding the uploader itself wouldn't do much in terms of revenue - relatively speaking very few people see that page. ImageMagick or similar would be a good idea to actually alter the images when they're uploaded and layer a brand name over that. Then of course there is the issue of having a sponsors name associated with a dubious image, for example if someone decided to upload some naked ladys and the program attached a company name to it. It could of course check the http_referrer and see if the image was being embedded in the board, which of course is very well moderated. You could even choose which sponsor got to be associate with which image - it'd make perfect sense for the sponsor to pay for their own products being showcased in such a context.

Re: sponsorship, great idea but the thing is although it gets a lot of hits a relatively small proportion of those are on the page where a banner would be... if anyone's listening and wants to sponsor it give me a shout!
I think we would probably have to go for the monster hosting package... there are a couple of options (server co-lo etc).
If I went for the platinum reseller account we'd have the following...
2GB Web Space
Host Unlimited Web Sites
360 GB Transfer per year
Unlimited POP3 accounts
Unlimited Email Auto Responders
Use up to 75 MySQL Databases at no extra charge!*
£70 per month (ex vat)
£770 per year (ex vat)
that should do the trick eh ;-)
re: subscriptions... good idea, but I did want it to be a free service and I think it would be an admin nightmare... i.e. people would want to pay (would they?) with credit cars yadda yadda...
