As you say - reported. I don't have the time to elaborate on here right now on this, but look up some history on suicide bombings and how they originated. It's a bit of an eye opener.

Also, I can give you genuine examples of where the line about "Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims" line is being used as an excuse to murder innocent people - because they are Muslim.

Right, I'm off out.

Im sorry i know this thread is about something else but please will the person who gave me the infracion tell me why, because if its because i insulted someone is it not fair to give an infraction to those who are racist, and also those who insult others? its only fair, or is it because they think theyre clever by giving me these infractions.

We always get a Christmas card from our (Muslim) neighbours, we send them a card for Eid, no big deal.

Asif, I have to agree with you, there will be threads and stories in the news. If there is, I buy you a pint, If there is, you buy me a pint. Fair bet?

Since it hasn't happened in Gateshead, I can only refer to what I read/hear in the news.

It's just one of them things that get peoples heckles up. Maybe it's "reported" just for that purpose.

I have nothing against people like yourself, from your assesment above, it's the layabout troublemakers I have a problem with, just like you do.

Enjoy your night out.

You do know that he probably doesn't drink right?

FWIW I'm with Lydia on this in that it is most-likely PC do-gooders at the local counil who implement these bans on traditional customs all by themselves rather than anything to do with ethnic minorities complaining.

I remember a case of a London council banning wanting to ban flying of the English flag in case it offends and an Asian councillor was telling them not to be so bladdy stupid (I'll try to find a link)

This has been the case so many times Lydia. In a local school some do gooder wanted to ban Baa Baa Black Sheep, strewth God give me strength! Thankfully his scheme was scuppered when all the Asian parents turned up at the school to voice their anger at the stupidity of it all.

I think these days both Christmas and Eid have very little to do with religion and a lot to do with food, fun, frivolity and exchanging presents.

Yeah that's the best bit , last weekend neighbour came round with a big plate of homemade pastry/ sweet things because they were celebrating Eid, how could I have a problem with that?

I have some good Muslim firends but it doesnt stop me thinking its all bollocks, I have not hate for Muslims, just realise its all a load of contradictory Mumbo Jumbo.

That is my opinion and one that I take seriously, that is my right as is anyone else's to be a Muslim, Jew, Christian or whatever, I however choose not to blow anyone up who does not agree, I will let them get on with their chosen method of barking at the moon, asking for forgiveness for existing.

Get on with it, be a nice person, dont blow anything up, have sex, have beer, have Bacon Butty, celebrate life, celebrate love, celebrate death, have a laugh, smell the flowers, enjoy the sunset but dont bother with prayers, hymms and all that ****e it screws you up.

FFS dont follow daft rules just cos someone tells you to, especially if they decided it 200 plus years ago, the world has changed but religions ont, they rely on fear and 2000 year old Dogma to keep the gullible, stupid and those to scared not to conform in line.

Very true - sadly, like any society, they have a bad element - a cancer if you like.

It is just the awful truth that this particular cancer is extremely aggressive.

Needs wiping off the face of the planet in my opinion.

Trouble is - killing cancer cells often results in killing good cells

Hi Micky,

I'm back! Fair bet mate, no problem with that, I think my pint is secured! Look forward to it.

Right, I would like to leave this thread now, hopefully the OP might try to apply a little objectivity and less sweeping generalisations in future!

Asif

Additional edit - Just re-read your post Micky, seems we will have to buy each other a pint regardless?

This is the sort of thing that turns people against the muslim community.

I'm with the person who said "if you don't like it go back" on this. Yes it's petty, but usually, it's the petty things that get peoples backs up.
It's all horsesh!te.

The people of this country (let alone USA) need to hear more from people like you Asif - they need this reassurance based in similarity and a shared common sense and purpose. Sadly this is very few and far between. I also think that those within the Muslim community do not do half enough to deter and neuter the tiny minority that give you all a bad name.

When we see doctors that we trust with our lives as patients driving cars full of explosives into our cities and airports, I'm sure you understand the fear of Muslims that sometimes raises its head and may cause the less informed to strike first.

So, Muslims should denounce terrorism at every turn?

There is a very small minorty of men that rape children. Should I wear a t-shirt that says "Don't rape kids mm'kay!" in case someone assumes I am a child molester?

If, when someone sees a muslim person, and they assume that person is a terroist sympathiser, then, that someone is quite simply, an idiot.

Pete you develop the argument to a ridiculous extent, and that on serious issues of world peace.

D
PS I am a 'terrorist' sympathiser, and I would imagine most muslims are too when it comes to the way that the Palestinians have been treated. Are we all 'quite simply idiots' then?!

No, I am just pointing out that you shouldn;t expect a majority to continutally speak out against something that a small minority do.

I'm not sure what is the bigger idiot to be fair. Someone that assumes everyone of Muslim faith is a terrorist sympathiser, or someone that actually sympathsises with someone that murders innocent people.

You use the word 'continually' - I would venture 'rarely'. Do you agree it might be constructive then or is communication in the face of a clear problem and concern too much of an imposition?

OK you got it well covered there - especially as there are 'terrorists' on all sides... I might suggest you have some naivety though on the empathy with the Palestinians issue - however unpalatable you find it.

I think that the Muslim community are contunally asked to speak out againt terrorism every single time such an act is commited. I'm not asked to speak out against robbery everytime that happens. The Irish people as a whole were not expected to condemn terrorism everytime the IRA commited a terrorist act.

You can suggest it, but I won't agree with you

I do not see how I could possibly sympathise with the murder of innocent civilians on either side.

Fair analogy to the IRA, but I think there is much more fear and missunderstanding in things that relate to the Islamic world. The IRA situation was a pretty straighforward 'Brits out', and this was spoken in a common tongue by people who looked much like 'us'.

No neither could I sympathise with murder. But I do think there is a lot of global sympathy and empathy towards the plight of the Palestinians. This is distincly different to condoning the murderous actions of any terrorists - few would do that publically, no matter how much sympathy you had for a cause or any long misstreatment. I do understand why they do it (in this Palestinian case) but I dont want Israeli schoolkids blown up in a disco any more than a Palestinian child shot whilst cowering in plain view behind their father at an Israeli checkpoint.
