had a night in a hotel in london and ordered a pint of lager and a glass of wine £9.50 and a surcharge of a £1.00 for the waitress to bring it to our table= £10.50 WOW..early night was the order of the day.
Wheatherspoons near us £1.80 lager and £2.50 wine= £4.30

I bought a pint of Stella in some place in Leicester Sq. and was charged £4.95. It was the same price for a bottle.
That was in 2003, so it'll be £6/£7 a pint now!

I'm not reformed at all. Just moved away
I was just commenting on how cheap it was, which usually refelcts the prosperity of the place.
There are no decent fish and chip shops or chinese take aways down here - much better up north.

Too be honest - I don't expect change from a Tenner for a Pint of beer and a glass of wine nowadays.
Which is why I LOVE going to visit Dad in Macclesfield. It kinda feels like you can buy the entire pub a round for the cost of one night out down here.
