I thought I was the only one
Just don't get it at all. TBH, the people/friends that I don't keep it touch with are that way for a reason - I don't want to keep in touch with them!!
Any friends I want to talk to, I've got their numbers and addresses anyway.
Thought for a second that I was turning into a grumpy old man (well, there's still hope!!! )

[Davey],
You're probably right there - just been talking to Wifey about it, and I pretty much came to that very same conclusion.
Aside from my wife, I'm not what you would call a social-type of person. I've never been in one place long enough to make loads of friends.
Wifey's got a facebook, and she seems to think that it wierd that even now I've moved on from Scoobys, I still frequent ScoobyNet every day.
My arguement is that on Scoobynet, there's a few people who I now know, and moreso, as a source of information, and the speediness of replies, there are few places that can rival that. But there is a reason for coming here - the information flow.
Facebook, well, she goes there to talk to her work mates - strange as she sees them every day!!!

Facebook isn't an 'Advertise yourself to the internet' thing. It's only your friends that can see your page. So if you get about a lot you can keep in touch with friends, photo's and all from all over the world. You don't need to worry about phoning at the right time zone at £1 a minute but can keep in brief touch with everyone you know.
Personally I have about 80 friends on there, and I'm not exactly going to phone them all every week.
I struggle to see how you'd fail to get it unless you only have friends in the local area and shun anyone that dares to leave

I love facebook - much better than mySpace.
I moved away from the area that I grew up in - as did many others, and its nice to just drop them a note from time to time seeing how they are without having to pay subscription fee's for Friends Reunited.
I enjoy it - my advice - if you don't like it - don't use it.

Pointless....
Oh look, I have an email telling me I have a message...let me go log in, wade through the bites, pokes, zombies, gifts, and whatever other crap is on there, just to read a message that some **** could have said a) via email in the first place b) via text message c) in person.
Anyone I want to be in touch with from the past, I already am in touch with.
As for plastering pictures of yourself everywhere and info about every nuance of your life....no way pedro.

The only people that can see your details are people that you have specifically allowed to see your page, you can't just look up anyone on there, all it gives is a name, and maybe a little thumbnail photo. The whole thing works only within your network of friends.

Alot of people dont set the privacy levels up so in actual fact you can find out alot about people without being added as a friend
