Just watched this on news 24 - 'Him' could be correct

But even if it gets overturned - it wasn't what we wanted. No-one cares if LH is world champion..... we just wanted to watch him become world champion. Now we have arsed the drink anyway it won't make any difference to our own realities

on sky sports news as well now.

i agree its a shame to see it end up with FIA decisions all too often, but if Williams/BMW have bent the rules they deserved to be punished.

I can just imagine Kimi sitting in a bar in Sao Paulo getting blind drunk celebrating when someone mentions this news in his ear...

i've seen enough rule bending this year to keep the "puppet" in the news and at the front of the field,

this is just another PR stunt to get F1 in the headlines, thats not the way it should be doing it

It'd be cool, but very unlikely that the championship will be changing hands IMO.

sky sports news now reporting that if anything, it will likely be the teams that lose the constructors points, rather than the finishing order and drivers points being affected. seems to be the best idea - over the season i think Kimi deserves it. Lewis will win it next year

And then Mclaren could appeal to have them removed.

If they are removed from the order then Ferrari would appeal and the whole thing will be back at the world's sports council.

If Lewis is half the man he is portrayed to be then it is hard to imagine he would want a championship won this way.

It has happened in the past where drivers have used a car that does not fall within the rules. They have lost their points.

F1 is looking silly, but they will look even worse if they don't sort this out. The best solution would have been to not test the cars after the race

Memories of the lead shot in the fuel tank saga.

Run cars underweight then at the last fuel stop still a couple of kgs of lead shot in with the fuel. Car finishes race at weight having had half or two thirds of a race advantage!

Messy messy messy.

Agreed that Hamilton would not want to win this way, but in the same breath. If the cars were illegal, they have thrown the balance of the race unfairly, and may not have held the positions they did, and not been able to stop Hamilton to passing.

Either way someone aint gonna be happy if irregularities are found.

Yeah, if they have been cheating and actually gained a performance advantage from it then it could have stopped Lewis from catching and passing. Its a shame that we will never know if that was the case.

Whatever happens, its going to be messy. This could rumble for months depending on if the teams decide to fight the results. All sorts of appeals could be made, not just from Ferrari, McLaren, BMW and Williams. Loads of teams could have been affected by this. Constructors like their points as it gives them revenue.

Love the way that people moan about the FIA being heavy handed on the rules at times this season, then when this happens start moaning about it and suggesting it should be ignored
Cant have it both ways...

If the cars were illegal, then they were illegal...simple as that. Has happened before in parc ferme and the drivers subsqeuently lost points- thats why on the screen after the race, it says 'provisional results' .

I know it has to be like that, I know there is no other way. But it still sucks.

All the celebrations and emotions that millions of people around the world have felt are now all in limbo. No matter what the result, the victory for whoever gets it will not be that sweet

Its just not as clean as other sports, say Rugby. We lost that, thats it. There is no appeal, regardless whether any penalties were right wrong or otherwise. The result stands, thats it.

Do you reckon the FIA would be reviewing last nights try at this ponit in time?

So ,this is the latest farce that is Formula one ,the pinnacle of motorsport, and the fans being short changed again.
Like said already it needs one big shake up and some ***** kicked right out the door.

And if anyone is caught cheating they should be thrown out of the sport(no exceptions)give the ******* a long ban!

If half the SA team failed drug tests after the rugby final last night do you think the result would be allowed to stand? Would it be fair if it was allowed to stand?

Although I don't think this fuel thing will make any difference to the final drivers title holder, if Williams & BMW are proved to have strayed from the rules enough to have gained a significant advantage then they, and any other teams proved to be falling foul of the rules, deserve to be excluded. IMHO

oobster - last nights try was obviously a good try, but someone one made a decision and that was the end of the discussion. With F1 it seems that nothing can now be decided on the rack

Apparently the rules are that fuel temperatures must be within 10 degC of ambient at re-fuelling. All teams likely to end up in the points must give fuel samples at re-fuelling stops. The Sauber and BMW's had a fuel temp between 14 and 16 degC, not within the 10 degC band (edit: the fuel was 10 degC below the minimum). Cooler fuel is more dense, meaning shorter re-fuelling times and increased power output in the laps immediately after refuelling. What difference a couple of degC makes is anyones guess, but they have to draw the lines somewhere and then stick to them. The FIA have been sticklers for the rules so don't be surprised if those three drivers are thrown out. Not the optimum way to win a title, but it's not the first time things like this have happened in F1.

Kimi is confirmed champion.

Raikkonen title confirmed - Yahoo! Eurosport UK

Can't believe the FIA actually released this to the press - how much more stupid do they want to make F1 look?!!

I think Kimi deserved to win the title anyway - he kept out all the politics and got on with the driving. He won the most races this season, and lets not forget he had 2 failures due to car reliability. Had this not happened he would have fairly easily won. Hamilton didnt fail to finish any race due to reliability.

Well done Kimi!!!

Quick Reply: Lewis Hamilton may still be World champion!
