That wasn't my point with my first post,
I commented on the fact that modding the 360 was being done behind the cloke of the machine scratching disks! and not for what it was really being done for.
copy what you want I really don't care. What bothers me is some online games on the original xbox were sunk because of hackers. Halo 2 was killed for a long time after people hacked the game to jump/run/shoot faster and so on. The firmware hack is the thin end of the wedge.

So are all the people saying that playing copied games are bad have never ever copied a CD? taped a song of the radio? got some MP3's from a mate or the net?
What double-standards. Or will you try and say 'it's not the same thing'?
Of course copying games isn't right, but get off the high horses.

what a load of bollocks, if you cant afford "all the games" then why don't you trade some in/buy some preowned copies?
lol at scratched discs, my sega saturn discs are still not scratched, i did get a copy of grand theft auto once for the ps2 (for free) that was actually damaged, and i rang the devs up, sent in the scratched disc and got a new fresh copy for about £10, hardly bank busting stuff!
i just wish MS had a section where you could "grass up" gamertags that you know use "back ups"

Pimmo, I dont think Bill Gates is too worried if your using a few back up disks he's one of the richest men in the world. So dont feel too guilty despite what the do gooding hipocrites on here are saying.Work it out! how much money have you spent in your lifetime on microsoft products? hundreds? thousands even? i know i have.

I do not have time to play the games I have bought, I earn enough to buy the ones I want and believe it or not I am grateful to Microsoft for selling such a superb bit of kit, for what you get it isn't that expensive, as the earlier poster said, a 360 game versus a Premiership game in terms of entertainment.
Halo 3 is not my cup of tea but the joy it brings to my three lads is immense, the inspiration and imagination it engenders is well worth 40 quid, they play Halo in the garden, they write stories based on it, its and interest and I really hate the tag that no electronic game is of any merit, they solve puzzles, they improve their coordination, they have common ground with other kids and then go and run around pretending to be Master Chief.
Impressive piece of hacking to get a 360 to play backups but personally I cant be bothered.

errrr you sooooo didn't get why i stopped from doing dj work, due to the cheapskate rampers getting all the latest stuff for free while i was spending hundreds of pounds on vinal.
they get all the latest stuff for free, i have to pay for everything, the people on the dancefloors want to here the latest stuff, i couldn't afford to keep bashing the wallet with £5 to £8 per tune, so i stopped, i could have turned all "pikey and council estate" and started using burnt CDR`s, but i didn't.
you can laugh at this as much as you want, it speaks volumes for your character

Seems there is progress being made with the 360 and modding front with regards to the possibility of running home brew on it. Now to me that would be something well worth doing as XBMC on the original Xbox is superb. I'd love to see what they could do with the 360 hardware. Does that make us with a modded Xbox as bad as pimmo?
