A school mate who I still chill with went on to be a scooter boy. Skin heads against racism was the movement he was part of.

That was the stupid thing. Initially skinheads were about anything but racism, there were balck and white skinheads all united by the movement and the music which had its origins in ska and blues.
Then the NF seized on the skinhead look and the rest is history. There are loads of people who were skinheads at that time who if they told people now would be thought of as racist scum when nothing could be further from the truth.

Maybe that was my problem...i was expecting something that wasnt an easy watch - yet my only issue was sod all happened. Coupled with the whole "11 year old friends with teenagers" thing i just didnt get it.
Must be a southern thing...i was 11 in the early 80's and all i wanted was a filofax and a 911 - not a ben sherman shirt and a crew cut!

all i remember in them times was just hangin out with my mates.them jeans with flag badges on them .loads a money t shirts.bross aha and the pet shop boys..plus brake dancin and ohh yea i fancied my sisters mate like hell..plus my chopper didnt fancy it but i did get to ride it....

i agree , i really enjoyed it , one of the best british movies for ages, a good story and brings back old memories, thatcher woz a b1tch
skinheads r human tae u get bad and good ones, u get good ones getting brainwashed just like any other people, its easily done when u need someone tae blame for yer persobal problems and other stuff instead of moving yer **** and doing something aboot it.
felt sad for the main character , must have had a bad father and childhood , the one who beats up the black dude while drunk and then regrets it, felt so sorry for the young lad who lost his father at the war, the lil guy, theirs a alot of lonely kids oot their who r an easy target for brainwashing, it woz a sad drama.
great film 10/10, i didnt know aboot it, al jazeera did a documentary on it and the main characters interview and special screening on the fabulous picture show.
u know that skinhead the main leader his grandfather is a blackman lol but u cant tell coz he is so pure white

What an over rated film.....kid is bullied, kid hangs out with nicest skinheads in the world (all a bit odd ... 11yr old with 17 year olds???)....nasty skinhead turns up and beats up fat weed dealing skinhead....11 year old is sad.

Dead Man's Shoes - army bloke comes home to sh*thole town. Is a bit angry, looks a bit pissed off. Says the word c*nt early on to show he is mean. Takes it out on some local scum. Is sad.
