I think Sam's car is a Ralliart GSR. So we are comparing official with official? Maybe I'm wrong. If I see a UK STi with decat and panel filter only easily and repeatedly breaking the 300bhp (except at PE because even a Fiesta 1.1 can do that ) barrier I will need to eat my hat I think.

Juan,
As I said. 5K too expensive than it's closest rival. Don't deny they are cracking cars though.
A simple decat on an STi UK will bring it up to the same power levels as the RS Evo, for only about 600 quid more than the RRP of the Sti. That leaves £4,400 quid in my pocket. Most people are'nt made of money and £4,400 is an extra 122 quid a month over three years, even at 0% interest. Add into that the Evo will need twice as many services per year as the Sti and you get a car that will be significantly more expensive to run than a scoob.
Yes I have driven an Evo 7 and an Sti and honestly the Evo seemed faster, although on paper there's not much between em but nearly £5K faster? Don't think so.
Had the Sti been the same price as the Evo, the Evo would probably have won. All this is MY opinion and based on my circumstances. Other people will have more money and different priorities than me. That's fine.
As someone said above. The Evo 7 will sell at that price, just not very many. Whether they sell enough to persuade Mitsubishi to import officailly the Evo 8 remains to be seen.

I'll answer for you Sam - I hope 30-50bhp
35% drivetrain losses do not seem uncommon on AWD vehicles amongst the RR results. 2WD seems to be about 25%.
220PAW is blinking respectable however you look at it.
