Guys torrents are so date. they full of viruses and it takes absolutely ages to download a film………….

I started using newsgroups about six months ago and they are absolutely unbelievable once you get the hang of using the software and sign up to a provider you’ll have more media than you know what to do with. I’m telling you it makes torrents look like a 14.4 K modem compared to high-speed broadband.

These are the links you need:

http://www.techsono.com/supernzb/index.html

http://www.newzbin.com/

It takes about half an hour to get your head round it then you’re away. It’s not that complicated that at all

Then get a Divix DVD player that has a USB port (I have one made by Philips).

And you simply transfer the Avi file to a memory stick and you can watch high-definition films/television on your plasma panel.

Or simply watch them on your computer.

Rubbish never had a single virus and most of the movies i've downloaded only take 3 or 4 hours (admittedley that may be longer then it takes for yours) and you have to pay for most (not all)newsgroups whereas torrents are free

Torrentleech will max out any connection due to the share ratio system. Means loads of seeders and few leechers. Never a virus to be seen as uploads are verified. It's free.

I am not saying torrents are bad. However there is an awful lot more rubbish on there than there is with newsgroups and newsgroups are significantly faster.

I was a big fan of torrents untill someone turned me onto newsgroups.

You can get a decent yearly subscription for about £40 this is unbelievable value.

As for viruses/malware et al I can only speak from my own experience I had tons and tons problems that I just dont get anymore

Fair play

I do agree you have to be careful with torrents especially as people try to copy the well known uploaders (a person called aXXo who is awesome imo has so many people trying to f**k his/her reputation)

if your DVD player will play Divx avi files then burn it in Nero as a data DVD and let the DVD player pick up the file. If it needs to be in DVD format then VSO convertx to dvd is the best I've used.

Good thread.

I used to use bittorrent, then went back on to emule, which was faster. Now, emule seems to have imploded and its god damn slow. Anyone here use emule ? know of a good server to connect too ??

Im considering going backto bittorrent, but not sure which is the best client to use. Suggestions ?? I was using the basic bittorent client, but feel there could be better ones.

Once down loaded, I used to burn the avi's to cd's, then play them in a dixavi playing dvd. Not now, as I brought a media player, that streams over wireless of cat 5. Mine ia buffalow linkthreatre, dvd player, but also has wireless and plays from your pc, to your tv. Now I just download, and watch them.

P2P File Sharing Programs, Downloads, Information and News BitTorrent KaZaA Lite WinMX LimeWire Gnutella has a list of torrent clients.
I used to use Azureus which was very good but had a lot more to it then i required so now i use Utorrent nice and simply program which takes up very little space and isn't processor intensive.

I used uTorrent when I had a PC but now run an iMac and use Azureus which is just great. I tried Transmission and one or two others but liked Azureus on the iMac better.

I see torrent-finder is back online and behaving itself these days btw.

If you need to convert an AVi: get "Super C" (free)

That will convert the Avi or any format file to vob or whatever which then can be burnt using nero. Not a simple one click solution, but its free and it works
