Just for the removal of doubt:
To preempt some responses: yes, I know parking with 2 wheels on the kerb is technically illegal, however there is room to get a pushchair past the car and I've only ever seen 3 people in the street ever walk anywhere and they don't have an issue with the car being parked there (I've asked!).
So, can anyone see how my car being parked there makes it impossible to get a Mazda B2000 pickup down the road (either forwards, reverse or, frankly, sideways)?

Looking at the pic, I'd say the parking isn't great. Cars coming out of the close would have to swing out into any cars coming in. I'd suggest parking behind the light blue Audi.
However, it's not *that* bad so wouldn't worry too much.

If I parked behind the Audi, I think that householder would complain about me parking on their grass

I cast level 9 thread resurrection *poof*
Damn it, another neighbour has complained today about the same thing. He lives next door to original complainant, but is the person that originally told me that everyone hates the original, so it's not a neighbours ganging up thing.
Unfortunately, this neighbour managed to alienate me iimediately by *telling* me to move my car.
The annoying thing is, that on both occasions, it's not my car causing the problem, it's visitors to other neighbours houses and I get it in the neck when they park stupidly (i.e. practically opposite my car but fully on the road)
On this occasion, it's a Ford Ka parked level with the strip of grass on the left of the above picture. It's not an ideal parking space but again, in reality, it's not that tight.
I'm not a bad neighbour (I prmoise!) and I'm a nice guy but I do have a tendency toward stubbornness However, the bit that really made me lose my temper was when he told me that when he hits my car he'll report me to the local authority. er, go ahead you fruit loop.
So now I have to park my car differently, just to appease these idiots that can't turn a steering wheel to go around a car and that's fine. But I'll be parking to rule and I guarantee they won't like that because it WILL make things harder for them.
His parting shot was "well now we know what type of neighbour we have". Mate, you have NO idea.
EDIT: I should point out that I don't have the same 4 cars I had when I originally posted. I sold 1 of mine but MrsREV now has a new one and her Forester is in the Autotrader as we speak. If you want a V reg Forester GLS for £3k, let me know!)

Rev, why don't you just try parking it at the front for a while to appease these old grumps? It's not worth falling out with your neighbours over. My guess is that visitors will still park there and annoy them and you can rest smug in the knowledge that it's not you doing it. They obviously have issues for whatever reason about it and you're only going to antagonise them by refusing.

we have a very similar close and the guy on the corner always parks his 3rd car like that. Its no big deal to get past but just strikes me as selfish.
looking at the pic- if a car is leaving the close and one entering does your car mean they cant pass and have to let one out because you've narrowed the avalible space? It looks like it.

I will move my car, but I guarantee it'll not be any better for them but as said above, at least I can be smug in the knowledge that it's not me causing the issue.
As for 2 cars each: a) it's no one's business but mine how many cars (or houses or pairs of shoes or whatevers) I choose to own (I don't care how many "anythings" anyone else owns, either) and b) 1 is currently up for sale and has been for a week (which was the situation last Novemeber as well and that car was sold a week after the complaint so our parking went back to normal until we bought the new one).

Surely the "If he didn't park there, I wouldn't have to drive around his car" attitude is selfish (i.e. concerned primarily with one's own interests)?

It seems that people just want to park that side of the road. Why don't you park your car where the ka is, its not that much further from your house. Then when the visitors come and have to park where you normally park it will be them that stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm not sure they all want to park on that side of the road as such, they're all visiting the same house that happens to be on that side of the road.
I think I'm just really annoyed that I'm getting it in the neck for visitors parking. On both occassions that I've had complaints it's when those same 3 cars are parked outside that house.

Park all 4 off the drive in every spare space you can find in the close and then see how they like it. I don't think you're in the wrong or selfish and i'd be just as peeved if not more with those neighbours and be as stubborn can be when they have that attitude.

I agree. I don't think that the issue is my car, it's the 3 that are parked outside another neighbours house that a) aren't normally there and b) weren't there when I parked up on Friday.
I will move my car, but I guarantee it'll not be any better for them but as said above, at least I can be smug in the knowledge that it's not me causing the issue.

You strike me as a selfish individual, not willing to compromise and unable to see others points of view.

And if you take off your blinkered attitude you will notice those that have shared this common problem have mentioned you can resolve the issue. Those with the 'kill him' attitude do not live there and couldn't give two hoots to the outcome.

i'd be annoyed (am annoyed ) at the tool who parks in the close and effectively creates a chicane. Park it on your drive.
Just cause you CAN doesnt mean you aren't being selfish if you do.

Scotty, I take on board your points, but as you don't know me from Adam and others on the board do i.e. I have met them in real life, your character appraisal means the sqaure root of **** all.
If you actually take the time to read the above thread, you'll see where I state very clearly:
Therefore, I have responded to the complaint and followed the request to move my car to somewhere else (to where they suggested, that I actually think is a more selfish place to park but there you go)
As for the 4th car causing a problem, actually it doesn't. It's all about where I'm parking an individual vehicle. I could have 3 or even 2 or 1 and still park it there.
Seeing as I don't know you either, I won't point out that you're a self-righteous keyboard warrior and you jump to conclusions far too easily because that would be as accurate as your description of me.

And just because someone does something that YOU don't like, doesn't make THEM selfish.

Looking at the aerial photo couldnt you:
Extend the garage towards close to make it a 3 car garage and widen drive, that would then give you 2 more car spaces off road and problem solved
I accept that this is not exactly the cheapest option tho
