Hi Martin,

Not had a MAF/Lambda problem that I know of but we have had the odd exhaust blow which can make the car run badly. Give us a call if you would like it looked at.

Regards

So do you think £15,000 just gets a big engine.???????

Do you not think you would be pretty stupid not to include brakes, suspension, roll cage etc....

So do you not think that 15k doesnt acutally get you 500bhp.... errrrm dont you get it?
The engine rebuild is going to be over 10k if you want it done right, 2k for gearbox and diff, 2k for a good brake set up, 1k for clutch kit, so 15k, where is your money for the car

If you talk to people you can often get a package deal....Cost of car will be additional.

£20,000 is an achievible target for a purpose built weapon..

I do wish people would stop refering to cars as weapons

Alternatively buy a brand new UK sti here for £22k:
New SUBARU Car, Buy IMPREZA SALOON 2.5 WRX STi Type UK 4dr from £22,244.00

Buy all the cosworth kit that powerstation sell from the states
bottom end:
Cosworth Performance &#34Crate&#34 Subaru STI EJ25 Engine Titan Mail Order
heads:
Subaru EJ25 Cosworth Cylinder Heads Titan Mail Order

for under £5500 incl delivery and VAT. (or just as good keep the sti heads and just bolt on an axis stage 5 block for £4k delivered :AXIS POWER RACING- Stage 5 Motor)

You already have a 500/500 capable gearbox in the type uk sti so thats taken care of, now all that remains is the suspension.
Powerstation themselves sell the T25 set up for £1450 + VAT (under 1750 with VAT)

then you would just need a few bits like injectors, fuel pump, and possibly a FMIC(T25 uses standard top mount) a turbo and remap.

So your looking at
New sti UK:£22k
axis block£4.5k with pumps/belts/gaskets ect
Injectors/fuel pump and other odd bits: £1k
Exhaust:£1k
Turbo, MD321T: less than £1500 (not sure on exact price)
new clutch:£500
Labour to bolt on heads and replace engine: £1500
remap:£500
Suspension:£1770

total: £33201. These estimates are not on the cheap side of things, if you shopped around you could shave a grand or two off and of course you'll also have a brand new sti bottom end and a brand new set of sti suspension to sell off.
You can essentially do what the T25 does for £30k if your smart about it. Of course if you found a mint blob chassis with a blown engine then you could probably do it all for nearer £20k.

When did I have a dig???????????

Immy stated that the person 'should be OK with Litcho or PCM', which to me makes it look as if he was a third party recommending PCM, so I was merely pointing out a fact. Surely it would be more productive for Immy to post under his 'PCM' username rather than 'juggers', as this would help to clear up any confusion that any newcomers to the forum may have.

I didn't know. I thought that if you were a trader now you had to have your user name marked as such?

I remember there was a bit fuss a year or 2 back when the manufacturer of a new ECU came on here posing as a satisfied customer.

Because I wouldn't want the very new car that I was probably spending a huge amount of money on, to have hit the track hard before I've owned it. Not saying anything will be wrong with it, but unless the dealer is changing all the pads, discs, and tyres, then that's just something that'll need doing very soon after a recent track session.

I don't think they're not brand new though, are they?

Are you saying that the most track biased Impreza ever, (blue printed engine, stronger internals(than STi), better oil and engine cooling(than STi), 6-pot brakes etc, etc), hasn't been tracked my Mr Nippon before it was shipped over. These cars/engines are designed to run a full season of Group N Rallying without a problem, so one track day isn't going to cause it much problem.

Of course, the things you mention are a given on any car you buy, checking pads etc.

I understand that, but, personal preference, I wouldn't want to be buying a nearly new car for x amount of money, and it's been tracked. Maybe it's just me though, no doubting the car will be fine as stated, more concerned about the earlier replacements of consumables.

No, you're replying to a comment, which you've quoted, (but the layout makes it look like your words) about the first generation T25, whereas you're referring to the the spec of the second generation T25, mate.

The RAR will be much rawer and track focused (read stripped out and very agressively set up) than the T25 which is meant to offer the best of both worlds. Would suggest that manufacturers own special editions will hold their value better and be more sought after by enthusiasts on the second hand market. The T25 will also fare well as it has serious Kudos, and is also limited.

Me? I'd go with the T25. Most likely the bigger engine and more creature comforts will make for a better everyday car.

It's not just you. I thought the same when i saw the "I've been tracking the RA-R" thread and also seeing it's for sale.

But then got slaughtered by the PCM brigade.
