It's my decision and my choice how to live my own life and providing it doesn't affect you in any way it has nothing to do with you at all, or the government.
I'm not endangering anything, had a recent health check and all was tickety boo. I'm a big lad, but I'm also fit and healthy.
Plus I play rugby

I take it that my Cancer that I had twice was due to me being overweight too then
I am 5'10" and on a really good day 11 stone, guess not then
Although as the news reports stated yesterday its probably due to all the bacon butties I have eaten

Some of what I've read here really angers me. My Mam has recently been diagnosed with cancer, not willing to go into all the detail.
However, she may be a little overweight (by whoever decides that), but for as long as I can remember she has always eaten healthy foods, doesn't smoke and until her treatment she always made time to go to the gym while working full time and all the many other things she had to do.
So are some saying she deserved this or brought it on herself.

I think most is very tongue in cheek at the silly government report. most if not all of us now a loved one who has suffered with the disease and we all know that it there is no definitive way to avoid it's grip... hence we all try live our lives as full as we can

Most is tongue in cheek and I can take a joke, I've laughed at alot of what has been posted, including the posts that actually offended me as that is just arrogance. (not posted by you btw )
There is too much scare mongering these days (bloody government) and I'm sorry this is just a sensitive issue for me.
Thank you for the nice wishes STi and Chief (sorry, I'm fairly new so don't know real names yet)

Just remember on a message board people are far braver in what they will say than real life... me included. We all know what is bad for us and we all know if we drink too much or eat too much or are overweight we increase risks of this and that. I know all too well from a loved one who died of cancer and lived a pretty much perfect life that there is no set in stone set of rules. All I'd say is take the good bit out of this thread and laugh at them. There is a very good thread on here with post form people who have suffered at the hands of cancer or close loved ones have. it's helped a lot of people. worth a read I'd say...

I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer 3 years ago now and am fully in remission and passed it (looks for something wood to touch)
I am very slightly over weight (well I think so anyway) but as far as I'm concerned being overweight may have a small part to play in the cancer I was diagnosed with but "wasn't" the main factor in the diagnosis.
After speaking to my surgeon I was informed that in his oppinion cancer can be found in the body after the body goes through a shock of some kind.
I.E a year nealry to the day of me being diagnosed I had had my appendix burst for which I nealry died and my body went though a very BIG shock.
So shock could play a big part in all this.

Probably. The information that we've got since this happened to my Mam has suggested stress can also play a major part (info from the hospital), so shock could well play it's part too. I do think, however, alot of this information is speculation as there is still so much to learn about cancer.
I'm so happy for you that all is going well so far.

Also my wifes uncle was diagnosed with Bowel cancer almost a year after nealry loosing his arm in a printing press at his place of work, which I guessed may have been quite a shock to the system.
I was also told, and I can't remember by whom that everyone is born with cancer cells that lay dormant untill being woken by something like shock or stress.
Not too sure if its true but it would make sence.

The group "The Three Tenors" is to be reformed by adding Elton John.
They'll be known as the "Two tenors and a nine-bob note"

Sara's thread is very special as you say, and it really does a great deal to help as I well know.

[QUOTE=J4CKO;7379261]What exactly are we meant to eat, from what I can see its basically, fruit, nuts and water as long as it is organic, free of sodium and any kind of preservatives.QUOTE]
You might find this interesting - it's an online book, and is considered the definitive work concerning 'traditional' diet. Be warned though, there are some odd views that were considered mainstream when the book was written (1930's).
