Just to add.

there are a lot of butchers and crappy engine builders out there - best come on here and get a recommendation .

I'm sure that 911 is on API's books

tbh id rather go to a specialist and pay a bit more for peace of mind and warranty. There are a lot of "experts" that dont know the difference between uk and import engines and phase 1 and phase 2 engines (even some dealers) and parts, thats where experience comes in.Would you rather save a few hundred then find out down the line they have fitted uk spec pistons and rods into an sti block?

911 spends money here just the same as others do. He has had about 4 free bacon butties on a Saturday morning [ along with most of the rest of you ] and I can honestly say, that all he has had, he has paid for.

He is happy to carry our stickers because of the advice l / we have offered from time to time, that has actually translated into an improvement in his car. He was very sceptical about a lighter flywheel, until I sort of forced the issue and he is now a confirmed convert.

In all matters of life you get what you pay for and cheap is never a good idea.

For API Dave, having looked round a number of sites they show performance package rebuilds saying what can expect to get bhp/torque wise and a guide price. I could not see this on your website. Is it that you want to talk through with the customer their requirements or am I just blind. As next year I will be looking into a engine rebuild and will be doing most of my assessment of where to go online.

Hiya, Thanks for calling,

We are in the process of a new web site design at the moment and our current 'old site' has had no development for a whole year.

In any case APi has never been into claims that can be read and ignored, or acted upon, or even copied by competitors. I much prefer that I talk to the customer and assess their needs / budget and then make a bespoke quotation.

I prefer to talk about performance and drivability and not play the numbers game that many people want. " in this spec. l fully expect that your car will make in the region of 340 horsepower " is what you will get from me.

Not the "450 hp stage 2 " or the " 380 hp stage 1 stuff " Cars, like humans, are all different and will do what they do. To commit to a 450 horsepower target and obtain 439 can lead to arguments and could potentially be a something that could cause a court case. Manage your customers expectations is the word here.

Similarly, the likelihood of a scenario where " customer A came to us with a broken piston and we fixed him for £377.94 " is a bit of a stretch and can obviously cause friction when customer B who appears to have the same problem gets a bill for £733.65...... In the odd case where I have seen such claims on websites; I did note that they did not seem to have fitted any new gaskets.................

Sometimes you see that "we fixed him up with a good used block at £80.00 " How often can you do that? Not twice a week that is for sure. So what next time, a rebored block ? at what cost then??

Call me for a chat when you are ready absolutely no obligation.

All David says is true about his unofficial No 1 Sales man, (I was in competition with NS04.

I have nothing to gain from this, but others certainly have who have not used API (which is a large company of about 12 or 14 people iirc)

Experience counts when spending the money we earn, and (equally?) so does dealing with a confident reputable company that will stand by their actions.

As to web site 'research' (360ste) you are dead right imho.

The quality of the site, the info you can get to readily and the details you need to guide you are paramount and this is the modern world.

Some are good and many are bad (not targeting API here) in the UK, but some of the USA sites are simply superb, and several engine companies over there are really sharp.
However, you have to contact them for a price....but the pictures and the info are really good and certainly influence the decisions.

In the end you will talk to someone if in the UK or USA and the deal will be done as you are 90% of the way there!

I get on well with David and the few of his team I have met, and feel comfortable reccomending API to anyone.
David is a business man/sales team, nothing wrong with that, but he does have a lot of good advice gleened over the years.

Take advantage of that as I have done!

API:
Flywheel/gearbox/rear lsd/head gasket repair @1.65bar/360 bhp. Now done this 147 times for real.
