been onto sky this evening
moaned about being a loyal customer for 5 1/2 years and they didnt offer any discounts
£129 for upgrade (includes £30 install) no extra monthly cost
£99 for upgrade, but have to take out multiroom and an extra £10 a month
They could bring that down if I opted for broadband and skytalk, but I already have that from another ISP
So maybe that £49 is what they offer if you take the whole package.
Still dosent take into account the loyalty factor

I told SKY I was cancelling due to working nights and once through to cancellations I was told of the wonders of SKY+.
I got the upgrade for free
I am thinking of buying a HD box on ebay, selling the + box to recoup the cost and using our old vanilla box is in the bedroom. Just need to flag down a helpful sky engineer to do a quick hobble with the cable

For those that have Sky but not Sky broadband why not check to see if your exchange is Sky LLU enabled?
The service is great and it's either £0, £5 or £10 a month depnding on what amount of download you do.
Even the £5 a month package gives upto 8meg speeds and 40gig a month downloads.
Cheers

My Mum and Dad are well into their retirement and even they have Sky HD, full package, broadband and Skytalk.
Why pay BT or other ISP's £17.99+ for broadband when Sky's is £5 for a typical user or free for general browsing. Same with Skytalk, free off peak landline calls is £0 per month and unlimited landline calls 24/7 for £5 a month.
Daft not to if you already have Sky TV and a BT landline.
Cheers

I've been looking at Sky+ but am only entitled to the £129 package.
The snag I've got is that a Sky Engineer ain't going anywhere near my AV install (I'd need another cable installed from the LNB)
But I can't have it for £99 and do my own install - I'm not paying an extra £30, to tell the bloke to get lost.
I've also been then thinking , well perhaps it's time for SKY HD - all the extras of + and HD channels. Only another £50.
I also want to get a quad LNB for feeding to other regular Sky boxes (with FreeSat cards) - then I'm ready for the digi switch over![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Shame Sky don't want to play ball.

When I HD installed the Engineer fitted an Octo LNB with 8 outputs. If you dont already have a twin, quad or Octo LNB you will need to change the LNB as well as run an extra cable in.
He let me do all the wiring into my AV gear which was only a short HDMI lead and an optical audio lead to my amp, he rang sky to pair the card and left me to set it up as I wished. He was actually quite into HC himself.
I had already got twin cable for the existing Sky+ but engineer put me a new dish up, new Octo LNB and replaced all the existing cableing as it had been in a few years.
Cheers
